For me finding God is the purpose of being alive. There is so much noise in this world. The way Quakers search for peace they end up finding God

My best guess is that more often than not the worshipers will indeed connect to something. If one opens himself to and invites a connection to “whatever”, I have no doubt that something will connect. Especially if one insists acting as if the Way and the Truth haven’t been discovered to us and we must keep looking see what’s out there wishing to have access to our good souls and minds.

Am I correct in saying that all Quakers believe in a god but their beliefs about who or what a god is a personal opinion or view? Do Quakers have their own bible? Just curious.

@@JMThought Why would a Quaker identify as atheist? That makes no sense to me, to me that would be disobeying Christs first commandment - to love God?
@anyananningramamurthy26944 жыл бұрын
Not all Quakers would class themselves as Christian and not all meetings will have a copy of the Bible in worship. Some may have other texts as well. Yes, some Quakers identify as athiest. Some may prefer to call God by a different name e.g. The Light, Good(ness).

@@JMThought Thank you for your reply. I'll read more from the link. If some Quakers are athiest, would the Quaker faith be classed as a religion? Athiests being non religious?
@tim-williams4 жыл бұрын
@@anyananningramamurthy2694 Sounds like Quakers have become a religion unto themselves then?, aka Satan from these videos. (Satan being defined as any deception, or any untrue thing.) It seems Quakers have a big issue with defining what is truth within their organisation in the modern era. The words of Jesus Christ that the early Quakers so admired have clearly have been thrown out for inclusiveness? Sorry if this sounds blunt, but it appears you have become more of a club than a faith?, as in a faith you must define what you believe in, what is true to one is true to all in a faith. But you all believe in different things, some dont even believe there is a God (hence are atheist). From the outside it comes across as a bit of a mockery...? Maybe you cannot understand my viewpoint. I can understand the need not to go to Church if you are a Christian, the words of Jesus Christ take preference. But as a collective it would appear the Quakers of the modern era indeed do not follow Christ, and have drifted further away from his teachings. To love God is the 1st commandment of Christ, this does not mean you write God out of existence - quite the contrary. I am not a member of any religious organisation, but do aspire to be Christian in the Lords Judgement. I believe the forefathers of Quakery would want to disown what this organisation is becoming in the modern era.. Just my opinion. Much love hope to you but i believe the more you drift from Christ, the more satanic your organisation will become.

@@tim-williams Quakers have a different approach to theology than your beliefs . It will not meet your standards / expectations but that does not mean it is harmful or deceptive. It is a way for people to try and get in touch with god - like prayer.

@BritishQuakers9 ай бұрын
There are many things that Quakers have in common with Buddhists but meditation and meetings for worship are different things. We we do work together on occasion, but we have different roots and traditions. There are plenty of people who find spiritual enrichment in both practices. Here is one example: www.friendsjournal.org/the-zen-of-quakerism/

A lot of Buddhists I know prefer open eye and moving meditation. But you’re right it is deffo an interesting mix, Love to see it.
