My 875s are the same as my Iron Rangers, which is half a size down. Both fit perfectly. I could feel the Mocs hugging around the ball of feet more when I first put them on but now fully broken in they are super comfy.

I can't imagine going true to size on Red Wing Mocs personally. I had to go a full size down and even then they were on the big side.

It's interesting to see that people have to drop a size at all for redwings. I find their d width very awkward (I'm between d and E) and even at "true to size" somewhat tight.

I’m a true 10.5 I get 10ee or 10.5d in redwing Mocs. I put an insole and thick socks and they fit perfect

Just bought a pair about 2 weeks ago. Actually my first pair of boots and the break in period wasn't as bad as I was expecting. The only part that bothered me was my ankles. I used to wear vans tennis shoes. Basically hardly any soles to them. So far I love how the sole is broken in. I work in a machine shop and I'm walking on concrete all day. My knees and feet feel so much better. Located in California, USA.

I'm a Redwing person been using for many years, I just got this model and I loved look really cool with jeans, so I keep buying Redwing as long as I can. I try others like carhart, ariat, etc. Nothing like Redwing.

I was told by an employee at a Red Wing store that RW lost a lot of long term experienced workers during Covid. Replacing them has been difficult. Personally I won’t buy a pair of Red Wings unless I can see the actual boots in detailed pictures or at a store a store in person before buying them anymore. Too much money for lesser quality boots than they made 5 years ago for less money. Buyers beware!

Very true. The iron ranger is $350 now and while it’s a proven amazing legendary boot, it’s not worth that much. There’s simply too many boot companies offering the same thing for cheaper or the same price.

However you can get a lot of better boots for the same price or around the same price. $330 is a good price for them, $350 is getting high for what they are, and if they become more then they’ll just be raising the price to raise it.

The outsole is glued to the rubber midsole and peeled off for replacement. Welt condition is not important as no stitches will be removed during a resole.

I do not know why RW wont install speed hook on their moc toe line up.Truman and Thursday did on their moc that why i bought them. Still want to have a RW moc on my collection but no speed hook is no go for me

Hm all 3 of 4 pairs I have had problems in panel stitching. They fit great and they last like crazy so i kept them. I know they are not Vibergs so I went with it. Stuff like that are still found at Whites and Wesco so i dont get to worried by this price range. I do wish they are better thou

I completely understand that they are functional boots built to a mid price point, but it is frustrating as they clearly can put out nicely finished boots. If you have any photos that you care to share I might do a follow up!

I’ve ordered and returned 2 sets of boots and almost returned a 3rd due to quality control. The slate muleskinner and the abeline all had major scuffs and leather marks and stitching issue as well as stitching issues on the welts. I won’t be ordering any new boots for a while.

I agree those are seconds quality due to that stitching. From what I understand, Red Wing was hit pretty hard by covid (makes sense as I'm sure people were putting far less wear on their boots during the pandemic), so maybe trying to ramp up production recently has resulted in the QC issues in these boots (and as others have reported).

If i get sized, im a 12E. But in the 23 last and the 1907 boot, a size 12D or EE, my toes are mashed in to the end of the boot. So i have to go to a 13D. Then, my toes are right where the curve of the moc toe stitching is, so about a wide thumb worth of space

I believe these were first a Japanese market exclusive originally. I don't know if they didn't sell well but it looks like they sent Japanese stock to Europe. They don't sell this in a UK size 12/US 13 like their other boots which is a sign of Japanese market boots where feet are generally smaller. They have been available at smaller independent stores for at least a year,

I just bought a pair of 1907s and same issue with the uneven welt. Except mine is at the tip of the toe (right) and much closer to the stitching. Far enough that it looks like they bandaged it with some glue on the actual stitch..🤦🏻‍♂️

@devonreviewer I recently returned 2 pairs of 8138 back to red wing because the quality was so bad. I had a old pair of 8138 that I regret selling due to wanting a half size down. Not sure what’s happening with Redwing but I hope it’s just a bad episode.

Red Wing’s qc is definitely something that needs attention lately. I got the grey roughout mocs and the leather was 2 different shades because each boot had been made months apart. The welt stitching was also extremely messed up to where if I knicked the welt on something the stitching would split. I hope they figure it out.

RW absolutely has QC issues. Got a pair of 877s. Whoever stiched the welt made it look like they were drunk when they did it. The welts are also too short (stop a solid 3 mm short of touching). The eyelets had so many burs they cut my finger in the store and the original laces were terrible frayed after a few weeks. Should not have accepted the pair, but none of these were functional breaking issues.

Interesting, a lot of people have suggested it was a post-pandemic thing, I guess they have always made hundreds of thousands of boots each year so a few QC issues would always slip through

Red Wing quality control is terrible. RW 9875 crooked front part of right boot to the right. RW 8819 whole back side of one boot is to one side and one tongue and speed hooks are misalignment. RW 8084 something is terrible wrong with left boot, when is on foot it curve like banana.(but not up, boot curve to the inner side). I still have and wear 8119 because you can't buy that leather any more. In past i had 8114, other 8119 and 8856 and they were perfect. So, that is 50% rate for 350-380 euro overpriced boots. For one shitty moc and one IR now days man can buy Viberg. No comment.
