QUALITY VS QUANTITY ON YOUTUBE: How to grow your channel faster & why each matters

You are right - it's a tricky balance between quality and quantity. Giving myself a deadline each week gives me some time to aim for quality but then forces me to call the video "done" even though I would have kept revising it if I let myself.

It definitely going to be tricky to balance the two, but we just have to find a way to create systems that account for both at times when you are necessary. Have you ever gone over your weekly deadlines and if you did, how did you overcome it?

Thanks KT! Helpful since I just started my channel. I'm a perfectionist so I'm almost always focusing on quality but I've noted that quantity and just getting the video OUT (perfect or not) is FINE.

That's awesome Steph! I really do believe that quantity is the way to go, especially in the beginning, but once you have an idea of the direction you want to go to, quality might need to be bumped up a notch! What are you steps that you are going to implement in order to improve your quality?

Quantity over quality at the beginning.... I like it! Definitely helps to just do it to start! I remember hearing from other YTers that your first 8, 20 or even 50 vids are going to suck so just get them out there so you can learn and get better quicker. :-) Thanks for the vid! Good stuff sir!

KT Lifestyle I'm just slowly making tweeks as I make more videos! Nothing in specific. Just having patience and knowing I will continue to improve. Getting better at memorizing. At figuring out ideal lighting. At the intro and outro. At being efficient with researching so I can stay consistent. Etc :-)

@@OswaldDigestiveClinic Love it! I think that's the perfect mindset to have! Knowing that you can't produce a perfect video, especially when you are just starting. Taking everything one step at a time really will help with keeping things from being too overwhelming.

I completely agree with you. In the beginning of my channel it was quantity over quality. I posted a video daily for nine months, then i had to stop for a while before coming back and realizing that it was time to slow down and focus on quality. I'm curious what your take is on this: When you actually start to get suggested, do you think its better to leave those old videos that aren't the best quality on your channel and risk getting those suggested and losing the sub. Or do you think its better just to leave them so you have more videos in your library? my old videos are SO cringe!!!

Hmm, that's a great question! I think for me at least, I would leave them up, because you never know, those videos that you might think are cringe might be a quality video for someone else and may lead to a sub. If you think about it, you've grown a big following from those old and cringe videos and I think of it as your early videos are one that hold you channel up so I'd definitely keep them. It's also great to look back at them and see how much you've improved!

I agree! In the end of the day, it's up to you to really balance your time and know when your video is ready to be published. As long as you are getting your videos up to your standards and maintaining a consistent as you can schedule, then you're golden!
