The real reason, is Dan Snyder. That man controls every thing. He wanted RG3 playing because he invested so much in him, and he felt he was their BEST option to win. This is and ongoing thing in Washington, and one of the reasons they have struggled as a franchise so much. Shanahan, was not in favor of playing RG3, in fact, I heard he wanted Cousins playing because he felt that Cousins ran his offense better....but Snyder wouldn't allow it.

This was such a weird moment to see as a seahawks fan. We went from crappy team full of question marks before the draft to one of the most explosive and dominant teams by seasons end, and that was amazing to watch. The whole season built up to this moment and fans were hyped. Us recovering RG3s fumble in their red zone with a 7 point lead and 6 mins left essentially meant game over and an improbable playoff win for the hawks. There wasn't much to ruin... he was a one read & run QB... how many times was P Garcon wide open in the endzone while RGIII was running for 8 yards on a 3 & 10... spectacular run but still ended up 4th & punt & missed TD... teams stopped 5 & dime & stacked Front knowing if you contained the run & took away his 1st read you had him... Russell Wilson should have gotten all the accolades they gave to RGIII... and in time RW will be in the HOF... RGIII is what he really IS- a back up QB in Baltimore helping a better read-option guy have some success. The BEST QB's playing the R-P-O are the guys who if required can still play in the pocket & make their ALL of reads/progressions... watch how the redskins decided to go all out blitz against the rookie QB at the goal line & RW shouts red alert... then stands there calmly knowing that if they are bringing the house he will have 1 on 1s everywhere... takes easiest throw & gets rid of the ball patiently... yet quickly... TD! RW is a legit starting QB even as a rookie because he can play in the pocket & also threaten with the R-P-O while developing plays on boots & off schedule... so the complete playbook is open for him.... he decides to run AFTER he makes reads or when it is obvious it is an open field for a good gain- with RGIII it was just a different playbook... NOT a completely full playbook That's the TRUTH & FACT But people don't care about the truth any longer, instead they just want to blame Shanahan for RGIII's failure yet never give him credit for his limited successes At this point it's pretty clear that Shanahan & his son deserve some credit for RGIII's rookie campaign- yet all they will ever hear in DC is that they destroyed his career... man. i was at that game with my parents sitting in the loge level (my dad used to be the general counsel for the skins for 6 seasons, 05/06, 06/07, 07/08/ 08/09, 09/10, 2010/2011) once the seahawks made it a 14-13 game, i turned to my dad and said "uh oh...starting to have the same feel as the 05 and 07 playoff games against the seahawks..." and sure enough....yup. we lost. and yes, i am bitter about those 3 losses!! lol. i cant wait for the day the redskins finally knock the seahawks out of the playoffs. all in good fun though, i don't mean any offense to any seahawks fans here. also, oh wow, whatever happened to richard crawford? he was looking like a stud on punt returns.
