I completely understand your perspective and I appreciate your concern for maintaining peace at our place. It's crucial to ensure everybody enjoys their time here! A barrier system could be a good solution. By enhancing safety measures we can attract quality visitors who respect the premises while deterring those causing issues. Thanks for sharing these thoughts with us; it will aid in making improvements! Ten bays are there at the moment, but all summer you could easily count over 25 motorhomes at the site, sometimes more. Firstly, it is not fair on the 10 people that are paying to stay there or the locals either. The Council wanted to have more bays at the site when they applied for planning permission. However, the Fire Officer expressed his objection. No one is enforcing parking rules on the site, which is causing a bad reputation for everyone involved. Like everything, if you abuse it you will lose it.

Thank you 🙏🏼. This is what I’m saying. Iv family living in Dungarvan myself. In Abbyside . We will lose it if it keeps been abused. I was wondering about the car park in next to it. Maybe that’s private land . I’m not sure 🤔

@@pamelajohnnysmotorhomejourneys The car park next to it, is Council land as far as I know. It was a car park before the bays were built. Its main use was for parking for the Pitch and Putt club, and for people that are not as young, to park there and take a walk down by the sea area, just for exercise or to walk their dog. Looking at it now, I wonder if the motorhome bays were built in the wrong area. But I do know that it's not suitable for more than 10 motorhomes. There is only one road in for emergency services, and a motorhome caught fire near the park area last year. Most of the people posting on here know what I'm talking about. There are 2 houses at the entrance. to the site, for weeks on end over the summer a motorhome was outside their door. When they open their curtains in the morning they are greeted by the view of a motorhome. If the council doesn't enforce the rules, it won't last. It's unfortunate because everyone loses.

It’s lack of enforcement Pamela. I’ve noticed the same in Cobh where many vans (almost always Irish) do not have tickets displayed.

Ya it’s a pity , my brother lives in Cobh it’s a fabulous spot . It should be enforced because you’ll have people spoiling it and abusing it. And then we will lose it.

We stayed there - great spot and understand what you mean it should be x spots and clamp down on abusers - we paid of course paid

Nearly most of the people will pay only Some take advantage when no one is monitoring it. They had tents and all coming there & Caravans . I think the gaurds moved them on in the end .

Surely dungarvan have a parking warden. The parking man in my town has a van an drives around and checks all the car parks around the town. But also a lot of the parking meters don't work or are out of paper the one in cobh is often out of order

Oh there is a warden alright, it’s not just the not paying !! When there is a place where they are not bothering to check if people payed then you get SOME people coming and abusing it. Knowing ahh sure this place don’t be monitored. Oh sure In cobh they where having problems too, gaurds where called there during the summer . Because again machines out of order and SOME people know this . I’m not sure if wardens work weekends

Traffic warden do work on a Saturday they could check all vans at 530 on a Friday or Saturday evening before they go home.

Same auld story . . . the few a$$hole camper-vanners give the majority a bad name. Here in Co Louth they had to close the public toilets at Gyles Quay this year because 'so-called motorhomers' were constantly abusing the facilities there. It's not an aire per se, but, I'm guessing next year we could see Council signage saying "NO OVER-NIGHT PARKING" spoiling it for the rest of us. Keep up the good work. PS: We had a lovely time in the SE of Ireland last year and really enjoyed our few swims at Newtown. 😃😃

That's a first, A Motorhomer looking for Barriers🤣🤣 While I agree with you Pamela about the abuse in Dungarvan. I feel it could be easily corrected by clamping offending Motorhomes / Campers and charging say €200 to remove. I guarantee the news would be spread on social media like wildfire and the free loaders would move on. Just like the RSA weighing the Motorhomers, I think they only did it once outside Shannon and every one are watching the weight of their Motorhomers since.

Well There is always a first for everything 😅😅😅 Well I never mind paying if there is facilities there , and this place does get hassle during the summer from undesirables & Free loaders but I can’t say that!!! So I have to say it a different way . And yes if they new a barrier was there they wouldn’t come there coz they’d have to Pay. The gaurds where called a few times to move on people. It would turn others off going there . And the place will get shut down if not policed some way any way !

Totally agree with you but they will park outside the barriers and be a bigger nuisance. I was there earlier in the year, there was spaces available in the offical Aire and there was Motorhomes parked across the road, they just wouldnt pay. its not just an Irish thing, Iv seen the very same thing in Aires in France. I still think all motorhomes parked outside the Aire and un paid ones in the Aire should be clamped. @@patryan3494 it’s mad they pay thousands for there Motorhome or camper and to hungry to pay to use Aire . They should be clamped. They need a bigger Aire . I think in the place in the Barriers is bigger I dunno why they didn’t put it in there .

Absolutely, We are Motorhoming with years and this Carry on has only surfaced in the last few years. In all fairness most people are very law abiding, it is just a small minority that ruin it for everyone else. Thanks again for highlighting the problem 👍@@pamelajohnnysmotorhomejourneys​
