I like that STAR framework a lot, it's very similar to what we have to do in the (Canadian) military. Whenever you're saying anything to a superior we use SAR, situation, assessment, recommendation

I think it's too boring and formal, and removes much of personality in things. It can also make people way to reliant on a process, rather than taking personal actions

Any tips on finding smaller quant firms to do internships at? The massive ones (DE Shaw, Two Sigma, etc) always come op in job searches but I feel like there’s probably a lot of smaller firms out there to apply to that that would increase my chances

@@jeevacation there is a very tough competition if you're aiming for HFTs especially in India. Most of the time they hire IITians. I'm not even trying for a software developer role, but still no luck in getting any interview calls

Some good answers, but seems way american/british to me and not much honesty in the answers. Very much sell sell sell and buzzwords, few developers talk like that. Also this whole timing of the interview tell me about yourself, some people have more some have less to tell. Not everything needs to be measured

Nice to hear for him! If that's what one want to optimize for sure, but my point is more that we as interviewers also can give companies a level or respect and authenticity, and someone judging that you talk about say your dogs isn't someone I would like to work for anyway.
