I hear you about not being able to afford a $300 (I believe it's really $250) gimmick. But you said @3:22 that you don't believe using a knock off takes anything away from John. But it absolutely does. And I don't mean sales, because if you can't afford it, you can't afford it. The knock offs take away several things from the creator. First, the cheaper material makes it harder to accomplish the act smoothly in the hands (I've seen your performance video, yours is at least better than a few really bad others using the knock off). With less fluidity, it's more obvious how the trick is done especially when in video format. Second, supporting the knock offs makes them stay in business, and seeing as how the Chinese marketing has the method clearly shown in pictures where it's sold, it exposes his design and intellectual property. The knock offs absolutely have hurt John, as he explains all over the forums in Magic Cafe. I am not judging you for buying or using a knock off, just know that your statement that they don't take anything away from the creator is 100% wrong. Especially if John has a patent (which I'm unclear on). I like your stuff! Just thought John deserved a little defending.

Thank you for your input. When I last checked the price for his QB about a year or so ago, it was on sale for around $300 even though it was retailed for $500, but at least he's put a sale now to $250 US which at least somewhat more affordable to some. Which btw I am Canadian which means it's costing more for me even. I won't argue against your point because everything you said is valid. I just don't feel that the product justifies the high price tag. That said, I'm speaking from a position of not alot of wealth as well as possibly for some other magicians in similar position. While I'm not the most proud of having to settle with the knock off version, I will say that it's been holding up well for me now for about 3 years and counting now. Again, not trying to disagree with you at all.

Kito Chee as magicians almost none of us are wealthy so I feel you haha. I would agree that $500 is probably overpriced but the new price of $250 seems very reasonable given that the real QB is made from high quality steel, high quality jointing, CNC'd to a 100,000th of inch, and individually powder coated to last a lifetime. The concept can be (and is) duplicated for much cheaper, you're right. What you have is not worth anywhere close to that price. But what you get from John is super super high quality material. So his price is more than fair, it just comes down to whether or not those differences matter to you... Outside of IP ethics of course.

Your feed back is much appreciated, I agree with you on pricing. A trick/and or technique has to have a powerful wow factor before I can invest lots of resources into it. I enjoy your performances have you thought about creating effects and selling them yet? Or are you just looking to further your knowledge and skill? How's your work with Venom coming along I'd like to see another application from you? Have a great week.

The only creation I have is called Written in Blood: The Sharpie Knife, you can search it on my channel if you wish. No retailer was really interested in it though. Other than the video demo of Venom and using some Invisible touch ideas, nothing lately, will be trying to put out more magic soon
