Just thought I'd leave a positive comment since the comment section is unproportionally harsh on you. The video helped me, so thank you :)

Despite being unashamedly scruffy, this presentation is helpful to understanding the phenomenon.

Awesome video, thank you! I have a paper on this due tomorrow, and we had to do our own research. No other source explained it quite as well.

Music ruined video. Hard to hear you at several points.

Here is an explanation of the "Quantum Levitation" videos floating around the internet. In these videos, the floating superconductor gets locked to the magnet and will float even if placed upside down, something different from the standard meissner effect seen in type I superconductors. This video explains this locking as a vortex pinning effect in type II superconductors, but you probably wouldn't watch it if I explained it here... Note: As someone with experience in condensed matter physics, I do not endorse the use of the term "Quantum Levitation" in any way. That just seems to be the youtube term for this. : ( #vortex #pinning #superconductor #type2superconductor #quantum #quantumlevitation #condensedmatter #explanation #physics #levitation

""You van actually break pinning and drive vortices with an electric current."" What do you mean by driving vortices?

so, type I and type II can be levitated above the magnet? I understand type II vortex pinning, but does type I superconductor levitate as well? Is it just levitation without locked in position?
@NoOne32349 жыл бұрын
MultiFlash4 It just isn't locked in position. It'll slide off to the side fairly easily.
