Quantum Loop was a steel double looping roller coaster from French company Soquet that operated at Seabreeze amusement park in New York State between 1994 and 2003. It now resides at the Salitre Magico amusement park in Colombia. We rode this in 2001 on the RCCGB Coaster Odyssey tour...video includes a front seat POV.

Thanks for the video! Tho the designer is the company Soquet, not an individual named Marc Soquet. ;) Unless you got infos that I don't (and I wouldn't be surprised)

I have amended it - I was convinced that the company was created by a Marc Soquet - thought that's where the company name came from, but as I cannot evidence it I have changed the text - thanks for commenting.

@@davidjellis I did some digging, and the company was created by a man named Frédéric Chenavaz, and he's still the CEO today 45 years later. Pretty impressive! But I found no explanation for what "Soquet" means or comes from. It's not a french word.

@@KingRCT3 I found a discussion board post (in French) that might shed some light on the name and background www.ameworld.net/forum/index.php?topic=5269.10 Using Google Translate... Yes, it is indeed the Parent family who created the site (from the family property) in 1955. They were wool merchants in Tourcoing and felt that there was more of a future in leisure than in leisure. textile. They bought the surrounding land and developed catering, mini-golf, etc. I believe the first attractions must have arrived around 1965. The "parents Parent" passed the baton to François, one of their sons, in the course of the 1970s. To sum up a long and complicated story, François Parent sold to Grévin and went to settle in the sun (in Africa, I believe). Soquet actually worked quite a bit on the hydraulics of the mine train (which when it opened was called "the submerged gold mine"). Many small French parks turned to Soquet because, until very recently, few European manufacturers offered custom rides at an attractive price. In addition, there is no language barrier. And Soquet rides are generally very solid. If you are talking to an Italian, it is to take a ready-made model from the catalog, on sole and basta. For these parks, I assume that the amortization should be spread over 5 or even 10 years. And then there is the relationship which counts for a lot. Marc Soquet is a charming man. His two engineers who took over the business when he retired, Bernard and Frédéric Chenavaz, are also very nice. Soquet is a former engineer specializing in rail. If I remember correctly, he started his company in the 60s. In addition to the attractions, he made miniature car circuits and mirror balls for dance halls (among other things). His rail experience has enabled him to build "little trains" everywhere (including the one at the Jardin d'Acclimatation in Paris). Motorized and gravity coasters, flumes and rapids followed. So it appears that Frédéric Chenavaz was an engineer who worked under Marc Soquet and took over the business and name of the company when Marc retired!

@@KingRCT3 I think the J-M-T who posted that message is Jean-Marc Toussaint, who is a creative consultant for the amusement/theme park industry (and designs the covers for the ECC First Drop magazine) - if so, that posting will be a reliable source.
