having looked at hours of other explanation, This is the best explanation so far, so easy to understand such complex science. Thank you.

My question is how do Alice and Bob verify that they have the same key (i.e. how the received qubits have not been eavesdropped by a third party )? The video does not explain that. I hope someone could provide me with a brief insight on how this works. Thank you.

As far as I understood it, the very act of eavesdropping would mean that the spin on the photons would get changed (Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle) . Here's a superb video that explains more about HOW this actually works! kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5rMknSAaMhpmq8

They can compare some part of the sequence.

They can agree on a public message, encrypt it and decrypt it and verify it says the same thing. If they have different keys, they wont be able to decrypt eachother's cyphers to reveal the agreed-upon plaintext.

One party can send the initial encrypted message with the key. Eg. “ if you are able to read this message properly, our key is secure and we can proceed further.” And if other party is able to read it properly post-decryption, the key is secure.

You say from "Alice's telescope to Bob's telescope", is it really used a telescope? Now I got confused, because as far as I can tell, there are lasers who transmit the photons and detectors who receive it, in that scenario Alice and Bob are receiving and transmitting photons, is the "telescope" a real telescope (as the ones we use to see the stars) or a specific telescope used to receive/detect the photons?

@ibell63 Perhaps you should consider migrating to the McEliece public key encryption system instead. It is free of all of the problems of RSA being cracked with quantum computers and all of the problems presented by quantum encryption. McEliece sound like a good solution to me.

I don't get it.. how the hell Alice and Bob know their digital keys are not rigged unless one of them exchange the row key with other.. can't that digital key be hacked at the time of exchange??
