I'm missing singing in our church choir so much and this is just the sort of thing we'd do!! The words are brilliant and the sound is absolutely amazing. May your reward be in heaven. :-)

A lockdown performance that's still worth watching after lockdown... There's so much to enjoy here, in the dignified, understated way of psalms, e.g. the change to a major chant from verse 8. If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing well. Thumbs-up!

1 I was the smallest of my brothers, and the youngest in my father’s house; I tended my father’s sheep. 2 My hands made a musical instrument, and my fingers played a psaltery. 3 But who will tell my Lord? My Lord Himself hears. 4 He sent His angel and took me from my father’s sheep and anointed me with the oil of His unction. 5 My brothers were tall and handsome, but the Lord took no delight in them. 6 I went out to meet the Philistine, and he cursed me by his idols. 7 But I drew his own sword and beheaded him, and removed reproach from the sons of Israel.
@Warrenbank14 жыл бұрын
Ah but that’s not in the original Masoretic Hebrew text. But very interesting nevertheless.
@fathercyprian4 жыл бұрын
@@Warrenbank1 The Masoretic Old Testament is not the original Hebrew but is a very late text. To my knowledge, no extant manuscripts of the original Hebrew textual tradition survive. The nearest we have to it is the LXX, translated from the Hebrew into Greek back when the old Hebrew texts were still extant.

I love this. Now this is really being picky, but it should either be “...them...that wash their hands” or “...him...that washeth his hands”. I guess gender neutrality won over C16 grammar! I wash, thou washest, (s)he washeth, we wash, you wash, they wash. Can you share the music for the chants too? Saves me looking for them in various chant books.
