Quarantine Cookies + SmART Sketcher Projector Crash Course

Hi everyone! I know, I know. I’m a little late to the party but if I’m being honest I have been working on these cookies since the beginning of the month. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say even though I have had so much extra time on my hands, I have struggled to find the right balance between doing NOTHING and doing TOO MUCH! Lol. So here it goes. My long overdue quarantine essential cookies and a crash course using the smART Sketcher Projector. Please let me know if you have any questions below and I’ll try my best to answer them.
Note: the projector was used on the first hand sanitizer cookie and the “safe at home” cookie at 4:55 mark.
The projector can be purchased on Amazon or you can go into Target or Wal-Mart and they’ll price match the online price for you.

perry2nccu oh no! Sorry to hear that. Different climates may require different amounts of flour. If you try it again I would try reducing the flour by a half cup. Once you see the dough start to climb around the paddle it doesn’t need much more flour. Also, roll out your dough on parchment paper or silicone mats to avoid adding excess flour. As far as the icing not drying, it sounds like the icing may have been overmixed. It has happened to me once before and no matter how long they stayed out they wouldn’t dry. I had to scrape them all and start over. Be sure to wipe down your mixing bowl, whisk, etc. with lemon juice or vinegar before you start to make sure you get rid of any traces of fat/grease which can also affect royal icing. perry2nccu I’m sorry, I misread your comment. The cookie was soft and the icing wouldn’t dry! I thought I read the cookie was dry lol yes, the cookie should be soft but once you let them cool completely they should firm up a bit. I have had no issues with breakage. 😊

If a photo is saved to your phone, you can do the same thing you did when you were saving the Purell image from Google. Just pinch in on the photo that’s in your camera roll and take a screenshot. That’s how I adjust the size for my projector!

karyn klan thank you! I used a cookie scribe that I made myself. I used a stainless steel jewelry needle and some beads. You can also find these on Etsy or Amazon.

Of course! I follow semi-sweet designs Royal icing recipe. It’s my absolute favorite! Then I thin it down to about 15-20 second icing. I don’t count anymore lol what I do now is add water a little at a time and drizzle into the bowl. Once I can tap it 5 times on the counter and it smooths out, I know it’s ready. I saw that technique somewhere and just found it to be easier than counting seconds.

Hi, first off thank you so much for this video. I have signed up for a cookie decorating class and need to transfer designs. I don't have the money for the fancy projector. I went to amazon and typed in smART sketcher projector and it says it is for children. Is this the one or did I some how ask for the wrong thing. Thank you for helping me. Yes, it is made for children but I use it for decorating cookies all the time. It’s inexpensive and effective for the things I use it for.

@@boryseng3415 you’re too kind! Thank you. It all comes with lots of practice and the projector helps me as well since I am not great at freehanding writing. Keep at it! You’ll get there.

Its not true. It doesnt work good. I just tried it. The images are blurred unless you really wanna make them big (20 x 20 or so) less than that is very difficult to see well. It needs a better lamp that can be adjusted to size if possible. The concept and the app are good but the quality of the projector fails.

It’s not the best option on the market but for those who can’t shell out hundreds of dollars for a projector, it’s a great starting point. I’ve been able to decorate many cookies and fondant pieces with the help of this little projector. I know that it helps when I’m in a really dark room and I try adjusting the height of the cookie if the image needs to be bigger or smaller.
