And I thought: What can I do to make me feel better, I needed something to cheer me up. And I remembered: Paula Dean! Watch some Paula Dean cooking. I like how she brings back memories to the table while she's preparing meals, mentioning names of people we don't know but makes it sound as if they're familiar to us too, and just being so candid and sharing everything with us. Her home, hear memories, her meals and her love and laughter, thank you Paula, for cheering me up. You are therapy.

This was like medicine for my soul. I stumbled upon one of these videos looking for recipes, it wasn’t what I was specifically looking for but I always know a Paula Deen recipe is going to be awesome- and I’m so beyond glad I did. My granny, a Deep South, die-hard Paula Deen fan to the core, passed away in April- but just thinking about how she’d be reacting to you & how tickled she’d be at watching these videos has filled me with such joy (that I desperately needed). It feels amazing to be able to think of her with just joy not sadness. Thank you so much Mrs. Paula, it was so comforting, even if only just to get to see another sweet ol’ southern lady in her kitchen again. (But luckily the recipe looks fantastic to boot- can’t wait to try it.) Definitely a new sub here

When I took Cinema in college before heading to grad school, one of my favorite film genres was slice of life. It had nothing to do with my field of study, but it was offered on Friday nights before I would ordinarily go out so it was a hoot. This is the quintessential slice of life filming that works so well for KZbin and quite frankly for you too Ms Paula. These types of recipes are all variations of things I have had over my life, but I happen to be on the lookout for rotisserie chicken recipes! I usually pick up a Rotisserie chicken and eat some of the white meat, then put it up in the fridge having got the hankering taken care of. Then I find myself making chicken salad and stuff, but ultimately throwing so much of the chicken out or giving it to the dog. This caserole is perfect. I can't wait to make it. It's the kind of thing you can order the ingredients ahead of time for, the more common ingredients already being in the house. How easy. I could see myself taking slices of bread and cutting them into smaller pieces and doing with them what you said you do with the bread crumbs - but once buttered and cooked, spreading the caserole over the toast. After I've done this once by the recipe, I'm eager to try it with celery instead of the bell pepper and then add some craisins to the finished product once it's leftovers to eat it warm. I haven't even gotten a single ingredient, and I am already planning my leftovers of the second iteration! So good to see you again on the gig media as they call it, making it your own. My mom would be your age if she was still alive, so I find you that much more enjoyable. Thanks again - and I too hope you continue this!

Miss Paula, you have just made my day! I don’t normally make many casseroles either, but this one looks right up my family’s alley. One quick question though: on your kitchen island you’ve got a set of knives on a wood board. We tried our hardest to see the brand and maker, but we couldn’t make it out. Please tell us what the knife set on your kitchen island is. I absolutely love the look of it, and I’m assuming it’s good quality, based on them being the ones you choose to use at home for your family. I’ve missed your face and your laugh, not to mention your special flavor of teaching us about the food you love. Please, PLEASE, don’t stop doing these once we’re allowed to live outside and be in public again. Your knowledge, and wisdom that only comes with perspective and testing, is needed, quarantine or not. You’ve been greatly missed, and I am loving checking in on what you’ve got to teach us that day. Thanks so much for giving what you have, which is that great big ole heart of yours. Everybody needs more of that.

There's something more honest. I mean everyone dreams about a career having a restaurant their own, but there are ups and downs and it's work. There would be some trade offs over the years. How do so many fail so fast? It's refreshing to see the work behind the scenes, the helpful hands and the ingredients used to make the dish shine through. It looks really good, like something we could make in my kitchen with and for my family too. I bet it tasted really great? Flounder are an ugly fish! Aren't they? So delicious. What was God thinkin'? We went to the MD office alone yesterday. It was different, but I really liked it better! Straight to the point. Nice. Get Better Aunt Peggy! Nice that you are all taking care of her. Really nice. Ooo, love your water color. Get a good sized piece of Arches cold press, any weight, some Himalayan salt, water and a tube of Paynes Grey (sp?) ...it's made of 3 colors. Red, blue, black. Wet the rough side of paper, hold up to light make sure no dry spots. Wet brush then dab a tiny bit to your wet paper. Be like a kid and move the paint in all directions, watch it bloom. Leave a 1/3rd of various areas paint free! Now sprinkle salt all over. Place piece somewhere to dry. Don't hold it vertical like one of my proud beginners did to show me and it all ran down. But I climbed over people and chairs in time to save it. I do many backgrounds then teach how to pencil draw what I'm painting. One time I had 30 pieces drying in my kitchen including the oven. Lol I'll send a picture, if I can figure how to. Love and hugs!

Hey Paula! I’m loving your quarantine videos!! How about a beef enchilada recipe? I’ve been craving it lately! I enjoyed meeting you a couple of years ago in Rogers, Arkansas at Hank’s! My name is Becca and you and I worked together that day. I have a few wonderful pictures of the two of us framed! Thank you so much for signing that butter wrapper for my husband!! Stay safe and keep cooking 💙💙💙

Thank you Ms Paula, for sharing this recipe. Ever since you talked about it the other day I’ve been going through all your videos looking for it and was disappointed not to find it. I should know better - you never disappoint!!! Thank you for sharing these videos, straight from your kitchen during this terrible pandemic! It brightens our day! You’re a joy! Always have loved watching you cook and love your cook in’

OMG, I made it today! It's SOOOO GOODDD!!! I substituted roasted red peppers from a jar and a rice/quinoa mixture instead of white rice. I also used breast meat from a Costco rotisserie chicken. Paula, seriously, it's delicious!! Trader Joe's has English peas in the fridge section so I just froze them before putting them in the pot. So full of parmesan flavor!

I think this video series is great for those who needed a bit mor mother science in their lives. Your love in the kitchen and sharing of art is what makes a house a home. Some come home to four walls and some come home to a nest. Nesting in the wings of love can never be taken from anyone. Recipes are part of the art to coming home. My foremother lived near the Campbell's soup factory and I have her recipe for no peak chicken. It's rice, cream of chicken soup, raw whole chicken pieces , Lipton onion soup mix, etc... Ya throw it together, place in oven (I almost typed onion, LOL) and forget about it.

I made this for dinner tonight. Wow so delicious. My family loved it. I added basil and thyme, a little chili flakes, more garlic, instead of peas I used celery and also added green onion with red onion and red bell pepper. Then some bread crumbs on top with parmesan cheese. Will make again!

Hey ya'll... Paula repeated on a different quarantine cooking show that Aunt Peggy (also a great cook) said this was the best meal (cheesy chicken & rice casserole) that she'd eaten since she'd been there. So a week later she's making it for Aunt Peggy again. Luv Paula's homey setting & cameraman Eddie & personal assistant Theresa for being so helpful.

Your large stainless steel oven reminds me of the ones Wendys used to cook their very large baked potatoes in, years ago. They would garnish them with chili and cheese or broccoli and cheese or sour cream and chives. A very easy meal. Thanks for comforting us during this time!

My Mom used to make this for our family but not all of us like peas so she used broccoli - so yummy. I haven't made it in awhile but will definitely do it this week. Thanks for the reminder! Oh...look into homeopathy for your aunt. It healed 2 family members back injuries & made them pain free.

I made this casserole tonight and it was a hit. My husband said "Man this is good". He had second helpings as did my picky eater son. I appreciate the tip on using the "Better Than Boullion" roasted chicken base. It is cost effective, take less space in fridge, will spread out over more meals, besides being a good tasting substitute. I want to try making your french toast casserole next!

Hey Paula! We love you so much, you are just such a ball of joy. I am a single guy and my family doesn’t live near me. I like to make your recipes when I get lonely because you remind me of cooking with my grandma. I made this casserole today. Ironically, the recipe has a link with the specifics, but I put all of the ingredients in bowls and had the video playing and we “cooked this together”. I really enjoyed it, and I topped it with buttered breadcrumbs. My only criticism is that it is slightly dry, but delicious. Thank you Paula for keeping us positive in these uncertain times.
