“I highly recommend showering” made me laugh out loud, but it’s SO TRUE. When you’re home all day every day, you don’t really think about those little things like showering, getting dressed, doing your hair/makeup, etc. that make you feel more human. I always feel so much better throughout the day when I take that 20 minutes to freshen up at the start of the day. Thank you for the reminder! We all need to take care of ourselves right now.

My husband looks at me like I'm crazy when I laugh out loud at your videos. I show him what I'm laughing at (last night it was when you screamed with the blender) so that he can laugh with me (he dosen't). And I desperately try to explain to him why I think it's so funny and he slowly turns away from me. Today it was you shaking your protein shake. Thank you Christine!!!

It would be great if you could homeschool your kids! You totally get their learning capabilities. That is one of the upsides to homeschooling , getting to tailor the curriculum to meet each child’s needs. Your kids are doing great though! Don’t worry too much about Tyler, it’ll come. Reading aloud to him is probably one of the best ways for him to learn to enjoy it. If he likes doing things with his hands, then doing something with his hands while you read to him can be very beneficial. You’re doing a wonderful job with them all though!! Hang in there!! From a homeschool mom of 7.🙂

My husband and I are both in our 60's and retired so we are used to a pretty low key life. I super miss spending time with our kids and two grandchildren. We FaceTime but its not the same. The littles ones are 4 and 2. I have upped my treadmill time from 3 to 5 miles per day and that has really helped me to stay sane I think! I enjoy cooking and so I plan healthy meals and get a 8-9 hours of sleep most nights. I think it helps a lot. We also enjoy some treats too! I really liked watching you run, the scenery is beautiful! Take care and hang in there. Homeschooling sounds rough but your kids seem pretty easy going and fun!

My husband has been working from home for 4.5 weeks now (we're in the bay area, CA), set up in the dining room of our tiny apartment. Hard at first but after the first week or so we found our groove and it's been smooth. Although our 1 year old likes to go over whenever he has a meeting and wave to his co-workers 😂. We go on lots of walks around the neighborhood but it's starting to get pretty old. Although it's rough and I'm struggling to cope, I try to go through all that I'm grateful for, it's been helping my bad attitude lately. Best of luck with your kids and school work and enjoy those trail runs! Also fingers crossed you guys get to reschedule your vacation soon 😁

I just started a job as a housekeeper at a hospital. It’s not bad, we don’t have a lot of cases in Wisconsin compared to other states and they are sending anyone suspected of having the virus to only a few certain hospitals so they aren’t spread all over the city. So my hospital hasn’t had any cases. It’s stressful because they are preparing for a surge and are closing most of the hospital down right now but It’s unlikely as surge will happen. It’s supposed to snow a lot tomorrow though so that will suck and that’s depressing me more than anything

it is overwhelming at times , my 15 year old does not like distance learning . it would be one thing if it was under normal circumstances but there is a lot of trauma in the world right now and adolescents especially are effected by this. we are getting out and hiking , it is keeping us sane. i am eating too much im also cooking a lot and enjoying creating from my pantry. ..that being said i get tired ,there are barely any breaks for me to rejuvenate myself. my husband works from home from the living room which is so complicated now that the kids are home . my almost 3 year old does not like when the focus is on big brother to help with school ..anyways , great video and thanks for inviting us to share things

This was fun. I loved the chat as you ran your beautiful trail. This distance learning this is hard for everyone. I have kids, I’m a teacher, and the parent. None of it is easy! Hang in there. I just keep reminding everyone was that it is a small percentage of their whole school career. No one is going to fail because of it. I LOVED seeing the game your kids made up - that’s their physical education right there! Love it! And playing guitar - music - check! All the baking you do with them. That all matters more than school work. Keep it up! Your channel is my favorite.

God bless you Jenn!! You deserved a million percent that shout out!! And yes that weather'd looking siding very very cool. Nothing like that yet here. Wonder if is costs a small fortune.....And like two seconds before Dave was panting saying how you were not slowing down, my god I was watching you and thinking that I would be dead by now. How the hell are you doing that jog down....I do not have to go to work I can do it from home, but I have to get out so I do back road country driving. No people. Just back roads. Lots of them. Gasprices lets me go miles right now. Seeing Spring babies, calves and lambs and ducks in ditches, big fat Robins.....Then once I get back home I feel I accomplished something and its like getting home from work....if that makes sense. But that is keeping me sane to your question. However running/jogging like you are would probably be better. I do walk too. A bit. :)

He is however missing his Senior trip to Belize, Prom, and graduation. We have 3 kids, 1 joined the military before graduation day, the other one had to run across the graduation stage to our uhaul parked outside as our military family moved from NY to CO. We were really looking forward to one normal High School Graduation. I am very grateful they all graduated, and have careers, and scholarships, as many are in limbo right now.

I'm glad I am an introvert. Left the house only once in about 7 weeks now (drive through car wash) 🤪. I tried to stop at the park for a walk but there was a police car there so figured it was closed. Thankfully the weather has been decent off and on so I can go in the backyard and putter around. Also all of you on you tube and other on-line interactions have made it bearable. Man after my own heart 🧡. I dislike doing dishes so hubby cleans the pots and pans after dinner. I cook the meals so that is his chore - never a complaint. Can't stand looking at a dirty kitchen or dishes. Stayed till then end. You are an awesome athlete and mother. My daughter was not into school so it would have been hard homeschooling her without emotional outbursts (she is bipolar). Have a wonderful Easter.

We’ve got 5 kids at home, 4 in school. 2 Elementry age with Special Needs and 2 boys in 11th grade. School is challenging. Every child is different and making sure work is getting done and turned in is exhausting. The little ones require 1 on 1 for everything and that takes a lot of time and the big kids have work I can’t help with. On the other hand I am enjoying everyone being home and surprisingly the attitudes from everyone have been good.

EVERYTHING is online through google classroom and it’s multiple teachers for each kid (they attend a private Christian k-12 school but that will change next year). We have all been home since March 13th and my husband is home full-time and my job is basically shut down (Realtor). We’ve hit a groove but not going to lie, I miss the old normal. We’ve been doing Army PT with the kids every morning for an hour, both my hubby and I are Army vets, so that has been good for physical and mental health!

I'm loving these videos! I only have one kiddo and she's not in kindergarten yet, so I don't have to worry about homeschooling. She's at the point where she learns tons from our day to day activities. I totally understand the "not challenging" school situation. I remember everything until 3rd grade math (math is not my jam) being so boring and easy. It all made sense to me and I didn't understand why we were being told the same thing over and over when I understood it the first time. I am definitely going a little nutty with the stuck at home situation and we've still got plenty of snow here so I can't even do yardwork yet. These videos are a nice little break in the monotony.

About your homeschooling. I've been homeschooling for about 17 years, and it is not an easy job. You are totally right. Not all kids are the same and there is some work that is a waste of time or not a good fit for that student. You are a smart gal. Trust your gut. Hang in there. It's not any easy job, but it sounds like you are doing a great job for being thrust into it all the sudden. To motivate my kids, I would try to set a goal to complete by a certain time with a perk to be enjoyed if they met the goal. Perks could be playing outside, snacks or screen time.

I’m in Idaho too in the Boise school dist. And my son is in 6th grade. They’re assigning work but we don’t turn it in. They say the kids will receive the same grades for 4th quarter they got in 3rd. It’s fine with me as my son reads several grades ahead and was in honors math. I think he will be just fine even though he starts jr high next year. I think it’s important at this time to just chill out a little bit. It’s such a stressful time hearing the news and not being able to live the life we were all living before. I want my son and daughter (19) to be able to do things they normally don’t have time for. My sons teacher set up a google hangout and all the kids were explaining how they loved being able to have time to read what they wanted on a hammock or play board games with family in the evening instead of homework. It’s a blessing to take it down a notch.

I have 5 nurse friends and I’m terrified for them all. My daughter has to stay home with her 2 boys as she is a vulnerable person for this virus. My son picks her up and she comes here for lunch or dinner and then home. I have 3 adults (37,35,31) and 8 grandkids (3-14) the kids are coping well on the school front. I am baking and using my slow cooker more and also knitting for new babies. One of my nurse friends has asked if I can do knitted hearts for the ICU , you make a pair and one stays with the patient and the other goes to their family to connect them at this time of crisis. Stay safe and god bless you xx ps the views from your hike are gorgeous xx

I'm a teacher, and I urge you to go easy on yourself with the distance learning. Keeping them learning is what's important, but learning is everywhere. Reading graphic novels, analyzing the story structure of a movie you watch together, reading shorter articles and talking about them, keeping a journal, writing scripts for youtube videos... anything that practices communication skills is valuable. Of course, there are things your school will be telling you they HAVE to do, and for that, try to come up with a schedule with each kid to help them stay organized and on top of things. But beyond that, keeping them engaged in the places where "real world" and "academic" intersect is the best way to help them.

I am not an athlete but I appreciate the video you showed of your run. The scenery is different than what I have in upstate NY in our mountains. It allows my brain to see the outside while stuck inside! The changes in terrain, the former volcano (who knew?!) ,The sunshine and the plains were all beautiful! Thanks to cameraman Dave and you for sharing this content. Keep it up!

School is going about the exact same for us, I’m feeling the same way about wanting to homeschool to pick a curriculum that I’d be interested in and that caters to my self motivators and to my 7 year old that needs a little more help. Both my husband and I are essential workers so that’s been *so* fun trying to navigate with their schooling. I also feel like teachers are trying their hardest to keep their jobs from being obsolete and I’m also getting emails from each of the kids teachers alllll the time and I can’t keep up!!!

We are all home right now. My husband works from home and I do the online schooling with our 3 girls. This week was better than last, but there is still so much to navigate. The teachers have done a fabulous job! School for Arizona is online for the rest of the year. That has been mandated by the state. I did make up a loose schedule for getting everything done...just so I have some direction. Otherwise I am pulled to too many things. It does require that we eat breakfast, get dressed, brush teeth and get hair done on a daily basis. Lol! I am getting ready to do a 4 or 5 week meal plan and place a large pick up order for next week. This way we do not have to go shopping for a while. We have a decently stocked pantry, but it will be nice to not need to leave the house for supplies. I may do a pick in 3 weeks for fresh produce, but I will have enough freezer/canned good that it would not be necessary if we really need to stay in. It is a strange and scary time right now. I am the main caretaker for my elderly grandparents due to the fact that our other relatives are essential workers and must leave the house. I worry about who will get sick and when. We are just trying to postpone it as long as possible so that if they need medical support, there is space and supplies for them. Stay safe and healthy and thank you for the mental break. I love watching all your videos. Jen's as well. You guys are awesome!

I have homeschooled my 4 kids for 3 years now and Love it we can do more challenging stuff and also less challenging more laid back we base our day on the day and they have excelled so much and actually want yes I said want lol to do school. We do such a wide variety of subjects and projects as well as taking trips that are so educational and also fun for them. If a trip is based off of learning we take notes videos and pictures while on our trip and then once home we go back through and then apply any of that knowledge to the assignments.. my kids are 3rd 4th 6th and 7th grade and honestly homeschool is the best decision I ever made for my children.

Just to let you know, one of the middle schools I sub at does audio books while the kids follow along a chapter a time in class. Then answer questions about that chapter before moving on. So listening to reading is being used in schools here in Michigan. So that might be great for your son. I am an essential worker now that I went back to work at a store. But I do not work alot of hours due to I do not have a lot of hours for a babysitter. I have my mom who is very low immune system who also can only handle my son for a few hours at a time. I have been busy keeping my Kindergarten busy😂. Baking and working at the store. We are also going on hikes on a local bike trail every few days. My son is ADHD so it is way harder to get him to focus. The school has not given him anything, set up anything. But spring break ends today. I think we will get things tomorrow or sometime this week.

Hubby and I are both able to work from home. While we're tremendously grateful for the ability to do that, I feel like I'm missing out on time with my kids simply because they're home. Because they're both teens (middle school for one and high school for the other) I'm unsure how their distance learning will be next week.

I live in the U.K. and I’m an introvert so used to being on my own. I don’t have any family (except my brothers family 400+ miles away) so it’s just me and my dogs and I’m doing my crafts (I don’t work, so I sell a few crafts-give others away). I do miss seeing my friends and their families but as I’m someone who totally doesn’t mind being at home on my own I’m doing ok. I really enjoy watching your vlogs though- that’s my “company”.when I need it 😁. I do feel for you though and my friends with their kids who are finding things tough. Thank you for posting- I love seeing what you are all doing. I feel like I’m part of your family ... an aged eccentric auntie that rarely leaves her house even prior to this isolation.

I started homeschooling my 12 year old son when school started in August. He has ADHD and he had real hard time focusing when he was in public school. But I teach him the basics handwriting , math, most subjects that he needs to know but most of all I'm teaching him life skills. That he's going to need to know. It helps him self learning and responsibility. I also teach him different curriculums based on the subject and what certain hands on plus I spend about an hour and 30 minutes each day Monday thru Thursday but he is also reading or listening while reading along . He's doing well! I believe this would be the best time to start homeschooling I'm praying y'all are staying safe and well I also wish I could meet you and jen chapin yes I watch other channels but I really love watching you and jen I could use a great nurse and physical trainer and most of all Great Friends!! I have a lot of health issues and I want to be more a tive. I am a diabetic with heart issues neuropathy. And on home hemodialysis dialysis with a bka which means I have a below the knee prosthetic left leg. I have no energy and barely eat anything. I'm supposed to have like a lot of protein but I can't seem to eat enough anyways if I could I would be up by yall in a quick min. Thanks for sharing your journey hope y'all have a wonderful and blessed rest of the week

I keep reminding my friends that if you have never taught before, this can be overwhelming and confusing. I am beginning to think that true Homeschooling might benefit 4 out of 6 of my kids. Like your 3rd, four of my kids are extremely book smart, and I am supplementing with my own materials. (I was a K-12 Teacher.) Don’t be too hard on yourself. Use this time to recognize your own kids’ talents and deficits. (It will be easier to help in the future.) ❤️❤️ Love your channel. Thank you for sharing your life during this very surreal time in history.

We've all been home since Friday March 13th. That was our last normal day. My husband has been to a grocery store twice. I've done car pick-up 3 times and 1 trip included quick pharmacy and pet store pickups. My girls haven't left the property at all. It's been a strange month. The first week was weird but kinda nice to slow down. I keep a decent pantry and stock of consumables (pet food, hygiene products, waste management) so we avoided the stores for a while. Week 2 the limitations of being stuck at home made us irritable. Week 3 was stressful due to work issues and just feeling so frustrated with no real understanding of how long we'd be stuck trying to live like this. Last week was a bit better. But the uncertainty of when things will return to normal is getting to everyone. I'm doing most of the cooking for dinners and keeping track of lunch options. We have a lot in our pantry but not knowing what the stores will have in shock when we get groceries is making me a bit anxious. I don't want to control my kids food but I find myself worrying they'll use things up that I need for dinners. I finally created "don't use" zones in my fridge, freezer and cabinet so everyone doesn't touch the stuff I need. Edit: My husband and I are both able to work from home. So we don't have financial worries but some relatives do. The uncertainty is frustrating. Edit: My girls are homeschooled. One had anxiety and was very behind in some subjects before coming to live with us. She's very good at reading people and situations, reading and history. We needed a flexible schedule to fit around her medical appointments. The other is very book-smart, wasn't being challenged academically but we kept her in regular school for a long time because she really needs the social interaction. It finally reached a tipping point where we couldn't find a way for school to be a meaningful experience for her. We belong to a homeschooling program that offers some in-person and online courses, sports events. And some of their online classes have group projects which is so valuable. We evaluate 3 times a year and plan learning goals with the kids. My kids can tell you why they chose their courses, what their goals are for the year, what they enjoyed and disliked about the courses they took last semester. I feel like they're more involved in their learning and thinking about what they want for their future than if they were in a regular classroom.

I started isolation of short right after that trip due to having traveled out of the US then spending 12+ hours in Seattle just as corona virus was likely getting started there. As I already work from home honestly the only difference to my routine is not venturing out of the house on my off days.

To stay "sane" I have a morning routine that I employed prior to quarantine, and I make sure to do that. It includes putting on a dress with leggings underneath, making the bed, making coffee, stretching to inspirational spiritual music, praying, doing devotions/Bible, making a hot breakfast with a protein and putting on makeup. I try my best to stay offline until those things are done and to intersperse movement (chores, laundry, cooking) between shifts of sitting at the computer. I'm a homeschool mom, so quarantine life is not as much of a change for me than it is for some.
