I've seen this in other performances but the clip was too short to really show off.

Wait these exist? Did you just shove too marimbas together? Where would this be needed?

The two marimbas are tuned differently. The marimba furthest from the performer is tuned 1/4 tone flat. All the notes are "in the cracks". That way, the octave is divided into 24 tones instead of 12 tones. We use the "quarimba" to create new microtonal music. The piece in the video is a short excerpt from Herbert Brun's 1974 composition, "At Loose Ends:" There is a video of the whole piece on our KZbin channel and we also recorded it on our debut album, "Escape Velocity"
