The reason it's free to stay on BLM land is because it's public land. Not because there's no amenities.

@jackiemueller205
@jackiemueller205 Жыл бұрын
@@byronlemay2166 yes! Cause it don't come here. Just like the people who think they support Quartzsite, you don't. Do you ever come here in summer? You should see the trashed campers left on in the desert. The garbage bags left at cross roads because snowflakes think someone comes and cleans up after them. You know who does that? We do! The people who live here and love our desert. Yes pay for the privilege of camping in the desert. Canadians and all non-residents should pay more, as federal lands are ...for the use of the American citizens...
@byronlemay2166
@byronlemay2166 Жыл бұрын
@@jackiemueller205 My point is that more money given to them won't make it any cleaner...the trash left dumped and the wind blowing it around simply happen no matter where lots of people are. You have to decide if your town being a "tourist attraction" during the winter months or simply a dead truck stop off the interstate is more desirable. In that event the town would hardly exist and there would still be plenty of trash around...perhaps even worse. Pull over anywhere on the way to Phoenix and see all the garbage for yourself. If the BLM says "We don't pick up the trash because we don't have the money"...that's nonsense. And yes, I do support the town...by camping there and spending my money along Main Street for food and supplies. And I don't leave any trash, either. You want to punish everyone for the random, stupid acts of a few. You must be liberal, right? Try to realize that giving the government more money is not the answer...in most cases, at least.

There's more to Quartzsite than Quartzsite. I discovered that when I got riding my e-bike out on the BLM lands from some of the free campsites. We also rode out to the Hi Jolly monument & learned the story about camels with the U.S. army. They were better than horses, but got dumped anyhow. I made a video of our experiences at the Q. Search You Tube under my name & the word Quartzsite. Happy trails.

I felt safe with my doors locked. There was one other camper. Then I went camping with a group who follow Travels with Delaney. They organized a camping time for about 12 of us. I was the only single woman. Everyone, wherever I’ve gone are very friendly and always asking if I need help. You’ll be fine! The more you go the easier it gets. Do you have a dog? That would help. My 2 cents worth from boondocking throughout the dessert west, do not drive your vehicle anywhere near the resemblance of a fire pit at one time. More importantly PLEASE do not bring out pallets to burn in a fire pit. It might be great free firewood but the nails left behind can destroy a campout for anyone unknowingly running over what may have at one time been a fire pit. 1 pallet is loaded with nails that sit in the dessert long after the fire pit is gone. Thanks for the video...

Glad you enjoyed it bluponi. The full time lifestyle isn't for everyone. It took us two years to decide to go full time. We started out with a 2 month trip followed by a 4 month trip. After that we were sold! When we boondock we carry 100 gallons of fresh and have a 75 gallon black. That seems to allow us to go about two weeks...if we're stingy with our water use! Hi Jim and Kellie! Before I forget MERRY CHRISTMAS! Jim, I love your cap emblem! Where’d you get it if you don’t mind my asking? I have KZbin channel friends who live in Oklahoma and they’ve said the last week or so has been brutal with all of the snow! Brrrr! Glad I don’t have to deal with that anymore in an 18 wheeler...I paid MY dues for 38 years! Stay safe and God Bless! 👍😎❤️✝️🙏☝️

Thanks so much Jim....Merry Christmas to you as well! Hope all is cheery in your neck of the woods. The hat came from Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KF2R0EQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Yes, we had some snow, but it wasn't too bad. We're not used to the cold though....time to move onto the desert! We're really looking forward to the day we can get together and have lunch....without masks! Thanks for coming along Jim....we really do appreciate you.

This was very helpful, thanks. I plan to go next Jan 2022, that is, if the Omicron doesn't prevent us all from meeting up (fingers crossed). I'm taking a Prius from California, wondering if I should get it raised as it sits low, and I'm concerned about the rocks. Thanks.

You shouldn't have a problem. Most of the areas are hard desert rock, but you will find larger rocks and sand in the washes. Have a great time and make some awesome memories!

If you are going to Quartzsite for the first time, google washes.. and make sure you know what a wash looks like and DO NOT park in or on the edges of washes... you will be sorry.

Is there a retraction on the number of pets in BLM or the long-term camping area?

When you enter the Quartzsite Camping areas, are there "Information Offices" that you can go to for information on fees for the different camping areas, as well as maps of the campgrounds, etc.? ? ? And will they allow tourist to come through and stop to shop in the tents???
@SuiteTravels
@SuiteTravels 2 жыл бұрын
The LTVA areas have a booth that you can stop and get information. The free areas usually have a volunteer that can help as you enter the area.

I love it and before covid happened it was even better for the rock and mineral shows. Now that covid craze hit they're probably won't even be that many people there for the shows. Tucson not happening either it sucks!

Expect $45+ per night at an RV park in January. Plus, most do charge for electric on top of that based on the kilowatt hours you consume.

Ok, so you get the BLM permit and it allows you to stay for 14 days. What do you do if you like the spot you were on? Get another permit? Is it mandatory to move from that spot to one 100 feet away?
@SuiteTravels
@SuiteTravels 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris. In the "free" area you can't stay more than 14 days within a 30 day period. Once the 14 day limit is up you must move at least 30 air miles from the original space. Their rules state: "Public lands are not intended for establishing and maintaining residency." Hope that helps....have a Merry Christmas!
