Thanks for showing the Florida Weave for your tomatoes. I tried it when my plants were first coming up and failed miserably. After watching you, I realize I didn't have my post close enough.

I’m with you on tomato cages. Ugh. And of course I’m so short that it’s a pain in the rear end when they get to tall and the cages tip. I may try this next season. Ty for the idea!

Pink eye purple hull peas are our go to as well. Delicious! Ours are already up and growing. I've tried the Florida weave using old tobacco sticks which didn't work out so we!l. T posts are the way to go with that method. Can't wait to see how everything grows. Andy the pollinators will love the buckwheat if you plant it.

We used tobacco sticks last year as well! They ended up snapping and breaking after the tomatoes got so heavy and also I felt like I couldn't pull the string tight enough with them. I think Andy is going to plant some at least up at the potatoes!

Some fancy planting going on there...your tomatoes look crowded...how do you avoid the blight disease...sorry about the deer...here's hoping you have a bountiful harvest...Mr. Wayne
@TrueGritAppalachianWays Жыл бұрын
We plant them this way every year, I've occasionally had issues with blight if its a very wet year, but for the most part the tomatoes do pretty well :) Thanks for watching!

Thank you for showing the weave. I’m gonna try it today. I’m in Iowa we are way behind you in our growing season. I’m with you tomato cages drive me nuts! I’ve tried all kinds but😡. The sorghum is super interesting I’m looking forward to the updates. I planted 3 apple trees this year also. They look good. I really enjoy your videos

That sorghum seed planting, you might try taping off every other plate 'cup' to reduce population. I tried some of JMs sugar sorghum in one area and further away some grain sorghum as experiments this year -- but we haven't had rain since April.

Awesome!!! It's coming up thick as hair on a dogs back, ha! We may have to do some thinning!

We grow and make. Our mill is set up on number 8 across from Keith Mabes. We have two strips planted this year. It handles drought well. What variety are you growing? The challenge for us is alwauq whether a late hurricane blows it down. We lost ours to Ian last year. Good luck.
@TrueGritAppalachianWays Жыл бұрын
I can’t remember the variety right off hand, but yes I’ve heard others say the wind can take it out! We will just see how it goes I reckon!

You shoot a video, but don’t have a thought to your son 4wheelin’ back and forth while you do it. Why should anyone watch this?
@TrueGritAppalachianWays Жыл бұрын
I don’t see the problem, we video our life and our kids riding or whatever in the background is just part of it 🤷♀️ if you don’t want to watch, don’t. Simple.
