I have been wanting to make an enhanced recording of this song for
many years but all I had was an old 45 but the other day I found a clean digital copy and couldn't wait to put this one together. It took 2 days to get this one to sound the way I wanted it and I like it. It's a nice headphone song too.Hope you oldies fans like it!

I read somewhere that the Guitar work on this recording was played by Paul. The Article said George who people like to credit with the guitar on this song was not even on the recording session. Only Paul and Ringo were on the session. I love George's playing, but Paul can come up with some really interesting guitar work. Paul was such an innovative Bass Player, but his Guitar work is often overlooked. Just my 2 cents worth.

I knew this song as the theme to "The Doris Day Show", but it was also used extensively in the 1956 movie "The Man Who Knew Too Much".

She certainly does beautifully, but you can hear (well, after reading about it, I confess) McCartney's "touch"----full orchestration?---- in the entire track...It is ALMOST a Beatles tune!...and it is certainly superior to INSIPID, sweet Ms. Day...........

A very fine rendition and augmentation of this "easy on the ears" song; but Hopkin's thin, over-dubbed voice is no match for Doris Day.

She didn't want to do the song either because it didn't fit her voice but McCartney pushed it for her third single. I don't believe it was ever distributed outside of France.

@@bobmarchand5263 I bought this 45 when it came out here in the States. It's Apple label and it's still a very nice copy. So, it made it out of France. I thought I'd bought it and I did!

Can't beat the original - the extra guitar detracts from her voice and that tasteful Leslie-speaker guitar. Great photos though.
