I have les Fille du Roi ancestors on both sides of my family. It's commonplace for people who emigrated to Canada in the mid/late 1600's. The population of Quebec was about 6000, and also the Bishop DuPlessis de Mornay insisted that married couples have as many children as possible in order to populate Canada. My grandmother was the oldest of seven children.

My grandmother had 11 children and my mother is the oldest. Quebec also has Métis blood in its veins because French settlers had married Aboriginal women between 1534 and 1640 ,years before les filles du Roi

The oldest house was not built by Jacquet but by Pierre Mesnard for Jacquet. Pierre Mesnard was my 7th great grandfather and worked on many of the old buildings in Quebec City. He married a Fille de Roi and they had a daughter, my 6th great grandmother, who married into the Levasseur wood carving family who made the altar in the Ursulines Chapel.

Hi, one bedroom depends which area. From 1000 if you live in a basement apartment to 2000 if you wish to live downtown.

If you want to survey online ads for apartments, what you call "1 bedroom" would usually be called a "3 1/2" in Québec. This means 3 full rooms (living room - dining, kitchen and bedroom) plus 1 bathroom. A "4 1/2" would be a 2 bedrooms apartment. "5 1/2" has 3 bedrooms or separate living room and dining plus 2 bedrooms. And a "6 1/2" would have 3 bedrooms, living room, dining and kitchen. That would correspond to a flat occupying a full level of a building.

How can it be 'Oldest house in Canada' when aboriginals were living in Canada long before Europeans showed up?
@zhannahere202 жыл бұрын
I meant that is still standing. But of course there were many houses before these.
