I will never ever forget that night, these fine hard working coal miners where recused on my birthday. I’m 60 years old now and every year on my birthday I think of these men. I remember praying so hard, I said Lord please please don’t let these men lose their lives on my birthday how could I ever celebrate my birthday again knowing 9 beautiful souls and their family and friends would be grieving their loss, I stayed up that night watching the TV and praying and crying for them until the last one was pulled up in the rescue capsule, So proud of you all and the people involved in your rescue. A Proud Pennsylvanian, Best Birthday Present Ever, Blessings

I think all Americans should watch this video and realize this is how we all feel about our fellow citizens, we didn’t care who was down in that hole we loved you and pray for you and your family. We love all love each other this way and we are are so misguided by a false narrative.

I happened to have the TV on ABC that night, and I plopped the nearest VHS tape in as soon as I saw what this news special was about. Unfortunately, the tape I used was near the end, so it ran out a few minutes before the program ended. What you're missing is pretty much what you see at the end -- the miners all coming to the surface and getting cheered. I've looked for this video elsewhere, but it seems as though I'm the only viewer who actually taped it, saved it, and uploaded it! I use it every semester in a college course I teach called "The American Work Experience."

*GOOD PEOPLE GO TO HEAVEN NO MATTER WHAT* - that's the message everyone should hear. It doesn't matter what you believe in, good people go to heaven.
