Diana created the end of their marriage. She was on her second affair before Charles and Camilla resumed their love story. Chivalry was the reason Charles did not expose his wife. They were enjoying their separation and individual affairs until Diana began to publically flaunt her affairs. That is when the Queen demanded a divorce. Much of Diana's public criticism was offensive in order to guarantee that she would have primary custody of her boys. She did not want to have her boys taken like she and her siblings were taken from her mother. It was not necessary because Charles was very reasonable with the divorce terms. Diana seems to have permanently sullied Charles' reputation, and many have stubbornly refused to educate themselves.

She could not change Charles's love of reading, gardening, hunting, and associating with his many friends, so she sulked and threw massive tantrums, following him from room to room. So, she went to other men. When he was down about her 2nd marriage just after Harry was born, his and Camilla's friends asked Camilla to look in on him. Diana was deep into her own affairs. She was fearful of a divorce because she didn't want to have her children taken from her in case of divorce, so she ramped up the "Poor Me" show. You are still under that spell. If you had compassion, you would realize that Charles and Diana were completely mismatched. Diana was a needy product of a dysfunctional home, and he was too old for her, especially emotionally, and they were never going to be happy together. She died because she did not buckle her seatbelt. The one occupant of that car who did buckle up survived and he was in the front seat!!! It was sad for them all. Marital fidelity is different in their society. Camilla's husband had affairs with a lot of women was a friend of the the Queen, and was Anne's lover for a while. He is a familiar face in the crowd at weddings, Coronation, and horse events. Those upper-class values are very different from middle-class values.

Over the years my heart has greatly softened when it comes to Camilla. It's only right she and Charles find happiness in their older age. oddly Camillia was probably the most reluctant to enter into marriage with Charles. She never wanted to be Queen, always felt the shadow of Diana, and I think at 58 she had no idea what she'd be taking on. She thought a few nice frocks, a few dinners, the opera....she probably got a lot more than she bargained for at a very late age. She's now 77, a time when most would have been retired for 20 years, taking on the role that makes folks a lot younger very tired. I know she doesn't like travel (would rather stay put execpt for a few holidays, she hates the heat, you often see her in the summer in Britain with an sun umbrella. She'd probably like nothing more than tossing her stuff around (she's a happy slob according to many sources), taking the dogs for walks and spending time with her grandkids, she's always not cared really how she looked, not really cared about clothes or pomp.
