This is the ONE, the one that makes my ears smile and my heart soar 💖. No Brian or Roger, who wanted nothing to do with it, the whole thing from start to finish is John and Freddie. A huge thanks to Bobbi for requesting it.

Ranks in my top 10 most under rated Queen songs for a reason. Smooth groove and plenty of soul. Got lost on an album that was not well received at the time. Always nice to see the song get some well deserved recognition and playtime! This song was all Freddie and John. At one time it had some David Bowie backing vocals but they were removed last minute. Sounds better without Bowie anyway. A version floats around KZbin if you are curious.

@@OffTapLife More about that: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Space#Legacy The Hot Space album's most songs that fall into the R&B/Funk/Disco genre like "Back Chat", "Dancer", "Body Language" or "Staying Power". "Back Chat" for example always reminded me of MJ's "Beat It" on year later. But that album was not very popular with Queen's more rock oriented fan base. It's a love-it-or-hate-it album. I personally love it. :-)

🌟This beautiful yet again such an underrated song, was co-written by John and Freddie... They also played all the instruments without any contribution of Brian and Taylor... 🌟Freddie sings the song entirely in falsetto something new for Freddie... He sang in this way another two times...I think the story goes like this(hey, in my mind)... Freddie and John in the studio... Deacy: ummm, Freddie Freddie :Yes John, darling Deacy :Well, I have an idea... Freddie :About what! Deacy :How about singing "Cool Cat" in falsetto? Freddie : That's a brilliant idea, darling! Let's do it then! Deacy :Thanks Freddie Freddie :Anything for you, my dear! You know how much I love you, don't you? Deacy : I love you too, Freddie Freddie : ♥️♥️♥️ Deacy: ♥️♥️♥️ (Aaaawwwwww🥺🥺😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰🥰) 🌟I love this song so much... Love Freddie and Deacy sharing their ideas and put them together... Gimme some Deacury moments! ♥️🤝♥️ Oooh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah You're taking all the sunshine away And making out like you're the main line, I knew that 'Cause you're a cool cat Tapping on the toe with a new hat Ooh, just cruising Driving along with the swing king Feeling the beat of my heart, uh-huh Feeling the beat of my heart Ooh, you're a cool cat Coming on strong with all the chit chat Ooh, you're alright Hanging out and stealing all the limelight Messing with the beat of my heart Ooh, messing with the beat of my heart Ooh, you used to be a mean kid Mm, making such a deal of life Ooh, you were wishing and hoping and waiting To really hit the big time But did it happen, happen? No, you're speeding too fast Slow down, slow down, you'd better slow down Slow down You really know how to set the mood And you really get inside the groove, yeah Cool cat Tapping on the toe with a new hat Ooh, just cruising Driving along like the swing king Feeling the beat of my heart Feeling the beat of my heart, yeah, yeah Feeling the beat of my heart Can you feel it? This album is very different. It was made in 1982 and it was mainly a Freddie's experiment. Even if it did not sell much and it's very hated in the Queen community, it's still fun listen to some of the songs in it. Other good tracks from this album are Back Chat or Under Pressure (a collab with David Bowie.) If instead you want to listen to something very controversial, try "Body Language". It's been called their worst song but I just think it's VERY different.

Love this song...fun and funky. This is the other song that David Bowie was supposed sing on but he didn't like how he sounded. Fans of both Queen and the late David Bowie know about the coveted “Under Pressure” a cappella demo, not many people know about that of “Cool Cat,” the song Bowie later requested his vocals be removed from. Written in 1982 by Freddie Mercury and John Deacon and featured on Queen’s tenth album Hot Space, “Cool Cat” was unique in that all instruments are played by Deacon including drums, guitars, and synths. Freddie sings in a falsetto the entire time, and Bowie’s low, almost spoken backing vocals add to the song’s funky, slow jam kind of feel. Unfortunately, this version featuring David Bowie’s contribution to “Cool Cat” went unheard for decades; the day before Hot Space was due to be released, he requested that his vocals be removed from the song, stating that he just “didn’t like what he did”. Queen - Cool Cat (Original Version with David Bowie) kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKDNhIyOaLJklck You decide which version that you prefer. I prefer John and Freddie's version.

I love this song. There is another genre they hit you haven't heard yet "Bring Back That Leroy Brown" it's like swing, big band sounding like it came out of the 20 to 40's era of music...I say that because it seems like the song touched on all the years in between the 20s and 40s, kind of leaves you feeling you don't know what era your in but you dont care because it's wonderful on the ears and well its Queen...nuff said 😂😂 And they were geniuses by doing all genres and reaching everyone because all it takes is one song in your preferred genre and then your hooked and end up liking all their music.

Once you’ve listened and heard their development, variety and imaginative music you’ll be hooked for life. Don’t just do a few hits. I am following behind but slowly catching up to reactions...sorry Faith.. Excellent request Bobbi Lee. Thank you. This was a very different vibe. More of a pop feel... disco type. Freddie and John liked the club and disco vibes whereas Brian and Roger didn't. Hot Space was not greatly recieved at the time..but is now up higher than other albums in their discography. I like Hot space..my opinion. John wrote this as he also wrote Backchat. Freddie playing the concert Live at the Bowl spoke about how people take things too seriously "I mean it's only a bloody record" - Freddie. I like the disco feel. Freddie as we know adored the disco music played in the clubs..mostly in New York.. the leather side of Freddie came from befriending one of the singers in the village people back in the day. Which is where the moustache look came in either late 79 or early 80....by the way the info:- Hot Space is the tenth studio album by the British rock band Queen. It was released on 21 May 1982 by EMI Records in the UK and by Elektra Records in the US. Marking a notable shift in direction from their earlier work, they employed many elements of disco, funk, rhythm and blues, dance and pop music on the album

Actually, the opening track off Hot Space, “Staying Power” did feature a VERY funky horn section, for possibly the only time on a Queen song. Listen to that one, and you can definitely hear how it might have influenced Michael Jackson while he was working on his Thriller album, which was released about 6 months after Hot Space.

I thought you were gonna say this reminded you of Sade, b/c that's who I think it sounds like. Freddie sounds like a woman in this song. (except when he says "I knew that"). Diverse is THE word for Queen.

Not one of their best songs, but not as bad as some consider it and let you apreciate John´s skills. It is sexy.

This was actually voted as their worst song back in the day. However, it just proves that Queen was just so much ahead of their time. His falsetto with runs is out of this world. Very difficult song to sing. I love this song and loved your reaction.

Oh no, just stay away from the Hot Space album. Brian and Roger publicly stated they hated it and were “pushed into it” I’m a Mega Queen fan but it’s a bad album

it's a perfect album. and I think Roger is not very fair when he is saying this. when they perform Action this Day in a duet with Freddie live - nothing can beat that.

@@linaskranauskas I agree, I love this album. It's just different from many Queen genres but a gem, nonetheless.

Hot Space is a FANTASTIC album and a mirror to music fans everywhere showing them how they are bought and paid for by the powers that be, programming them into a box of conformity. It's so sad to think Brian & Roger would dis Freddie & John as has been reported, over this music - the real tragedy of the Queen story.

Brian and Roger have their taste we have ours. There are great songs there. Just a lot of genres that Queen wasn't used to do.
