Richard, thank you so much for having me on your channel. I had such a good time visiting with you. What could be better than spending an hour + talking about Queen!?! Am I right? 😊

Great discussion! I really enjoyed both of your picks. It convinced me that I need to revisit the Queen albums I have in my collection and pay closer attention to the deeper cuts.

I always find it interesting to hear people say that Wayne's World was their intro to Queen, as when that film came out I really couldn't stand it, or the scene with Bohemian Rhapsody! This was a great video to watch as these days I seem to see more people either hating on Queen or dismissing them as a singles band, or saying they like them up to about 1975 but nothing after. I'd completely forgotten that Freddie sang '39 on Live Killers! Nice work Richard and Beth, and it was amazing to see you coincide on so many! 👑👑👑

Thanks James, yes I didn't think we would match on any to be honest

Hi James. I was at the ripe ole' age of 11 when I saw Wayne's World and like I stated in the video, it was unlike anything I had ever been exposed to at that point. I still do not know how I convinced my strict-conservative Mother to take me to see a PG-13 film like that.

hi Beth. It's great that it was your entry point, nothing wrong with that! I hope Richard has shared with you the Xmas video we did on Hot Space last December (unless he's embarrassed now by the fake moustaches).

Hi Richard, that was a great video. Although I'm not a Queen fan at all I still found it very entertaining. You definetly should feature charming young ladies more often on your channel.

For me, Queen were undoubtedly a terrific singles band who made some great album tracks but never a great album. It occurs to me that when Freddie died, the world lost four great songwriters all at once.
@CookieMusic43Ай бұрын
That is why Queen were so unique, every member of the band was an excellent songwriter. I can only think of the Moddy Blues that comes close.
@mrindecisive100Ай бұрын
@@CookieMusic43 Yes, to have all written top 10 hits is quite amazing. So many different styles too, as you mentioned in the video. You never knew what you were going to get next with Queen, other than it was going to be something very good almost every time.
@mrindecisive100Ай бұрын
Totally agree regarding 'Life Is Real (Song For Lennon)'. The 'Lennon is a genius' line is cringeworthy and there really was no need for the additional three words in the title. Otherwise, it's great!

Having four different writers in the band obviously contributed to the diversity of the music. I always thought Roger Taylor had a pretty decent voice and think he could have sung a few more songs, even ones he didn't write.
@CookieMusic43Ай бұрын
I agree and for me he was the best writer of the 80's (Freddie - the 70's)
