Queen Elizabeth was queen when I was born and she is the only queen I have ever known. The more I have learned about the monarchy, the more I am convinced that Great Britain was so lucky to have a beautiful and strong woman of very impressive character. She guided the monarchy through the difficult post war period and help share the monarchy with her citizens and the rest of the world. While there will be debates about the needs for Kings and Queens in the "modern" age, there is always a need for leaders of characters, principals, and a voice for the needs of its people. This queen has won my respect.

Agree. I am from a commonwealth country, we share a good relationship with the British. Even after more than 60 years of independence, we still get lots of volunteer body from the UK sharing their expertise and funding. Our students also have easier access to university in UK. We have grants, foundations, scholarship sponsored by the British, some from charity organizations related to the monarchy. Very recently my daughter was awarded a scholarship from the British council for her master's program in a European country.

The Queen and Princess Margaret were both very beautiful women. I remember as a child doing into the headmaster's office in primary school, usually to be castigated for some minor infringement. The one thing that gave me comfort was the official coronation portrait of the Queen, hung behind him. Her face reminded me of my own mother who is almost the identical age of Her Majesty.

After having watched 3 full seasons of The Crown I believe that Elizabeth was probably the most qualified and best suited by temperament and sensibilities to assume the role of monarch over the United Kingdom. Sadly, over the years, she seemed to have sacrificed herself completely to fulfill the role and for what she must have believed was for the good of the kingdom. I believe she and her family suffered greatly from that sacrifice and that her individuality was totally destroyed by the demands of her position. I suspect that history will show that her performance in the role she has played could not have been exceeded. In a larger sense I would suggest that Brittan as a whole is far better off because of Elizabeth. On a personal note, in her youth I find her to possess a beautiful smile and find myself irresistibly attracted to her as a person. It distresses me on a personal level to imagine that this beautiful human being was buried under the weight of the crown. We, the world, are lucky to have had the services of this brave heroine. I am a native born American but I salute her "God save the Queen!"

Elizabeth was queen when I was born and is the only queen I have known. The more I have learned about the monarchy, the more I am convinced that royalty is just wrong. Created by brutal power struggles it was the nastiest and most blood thirsty early kings that gained power. Power is then maintained by executions, bribery, allocation of land not actually owned by the monarch, plundering of foreign lands and many other crimes. One of the worst royal family crimes is the creation of the North Atlantic slave trade which the queen still benefits from in her massive wealth today. While there will be debates about the need for leaders of character and principle, it must be the vote of the people that decides who is in power and not hereditary privilege. This queen lost my respect long ago for not stepping down as she knew she should.

To say the fact that Queen Elisabeth was born by cesarean section implied it would be unlikely there would be a male heir to the throne is completely unfounded. At the time of Elisabeth's birth in 1926, there would have been no reason to assume that her uncle and crown prince would not have male children.

Ulalena thank u so much for commenting I was going mad at that opening historical inaccuracy 😡!!!!!
@alphabet_soup1236 жыл бұрын
Umm, a male heir was still expected for her father the Duke of York. Plus the Prince of Wales was getting older and hadn't shown signs of wanting to start a family, let alone any interest in finding a younger bride. It has been well documented that the Queen's mother had difficulty giving birth, because of this there were such high hopes that the second child would be a son. Elizabeth was considered a future heir, she was third in line, and the only heir of her generation at that point. There is nothing historically inaccurate about this at all.
