@@DavidTaylor-yl3yw That's the correct answer. LBJ was battling the flu, not having surgery. He really much wanted to lead the U.S. delegation to the funeral and had secured a meeting with the Queen at Buckingham Palace after the funeral. But his doctors would not let him travel to London.

The main reason the Queen never met LBJ: he was suffering from the flu and in the hospital when Churchill died. He very much wanted to lead the U.S. delegation to the state funeral in London (LBJ, De Gaulle, and Kosygin were the only leaders allowed to lead or send delegations of three representatives as their respective countries, U.S., France, and the Soviet Union, were Britain's chief wartime allies). that he arranged for the Queen to meet him in private after the funeral. But when his doctors could act, they took the trip away, saying he needed to recover from his flu.

Beautiful place. Purple and silver are the Queen Elizabeth’s royal colors. Yup. We need that to honor her life and passing at 96. We need to mourn her and the family ...she left behind. Monarchs are different from Americans- who don’t have any world war experiences or anything. (To say she was ww2 was great for me -since my own dad served four years as a radio operator... aboard the USS Californian battleship carrier.) We found the family memorial pictures of the carrier Naval ship plus, his Naval suit buttons and the bar he was given plus the papers he signed. Naval officers were average guys back then. Queen Elizabeth was just a girl.. then. Wasn’t sure.. if she would be a royal family members. Her dad served first. Yup. 🍁⭐️🇺🇸🇬🇧🍒Deeply sad this afternoon. Thank you 🙏!

People only talk about the positive side of things of queen . As a person coming from a country which was colonized I can tell you the atrocities performed by the colonists were far more worse than the picture of generosity depicted by media of the queen. In my state 300 young men were killed and hanged on different trees by British colonist. Women who tried to pull the bodies off the tree of their brother's/ husband were hanged too. Media won't give you the report of this and simple tell you how great was the queen.

President Bush junior is such a joker. 🤣 And Obama, the blur....king
Her reign saw the end of colonialism, not its start or continuation. I don't think she was racist when you saw her meeting with interest and smiles the many people she visited around the world and counted many people of colour among her friends, including Nelson Mandela. Infact during her first visit to south Africa she made a thinly veiled swipe at the segregation of peoples which may have made her politicians wince at the time. She adored Africa and its people as well as the Indian subcontinent. As far as environmental destruction is concerned, that criticism can be aimed at all of our governments, not just hers.

@@paulm5443 British Petroleum, British American Tobacco, Unilever, atomic weapons, war in Iraq, Northern Ireland, and on and on....she smilingly benefitted from it all. Our shared existential crisis means we are all either part of the problem or part of the solution, and that includes the British Royal Family which should be sending aid to Pakistan (ex-colony) instead of throwing lavish funerals and coronations to spite the world.
@paulm54432 жыл бұрын
@@stevenwilliambaylessparks3730 I think you views are somewhat distorted and you seem to be laying all of the industrial and political problems at the queen's reign. Atomic weapons? Hardly her fault but probably a sensible decision when you look at what has happened to Ukraine. If they hadn't given up their nuclear weapons may be Russia wouldn't have invaded, who knows. Northern Ireland is much more complicated as most of the people there want to stay British. Incidently, NI was offered to the Irish government during the 2nd world war but they recognised the problem of trying to forcibly unify NI so turned the offer down. Northern Ireland can only be reunified if the people there see it as a better future for themselves, it has nothing to do with the monarchy. Give to Pakistan. We gave them that country as a separate state from India in the hope that they would live in peace. How's that working out. While we're on the subject of British colonialism. When we went to Africa they didn't even have wheel barrows, or any wheels for that matter. When we left they had schools, hospitals, aeroplanes and a justice system devoid of slavery. Yes, the British put an end to slavery as well and not just in Africa.

@@stevenwilliambaylessparks3730 I'm a white brit and I can tell you I have no guilt what so ever. I'm proud at Britain's historic role in the world although I do recognise mistakes and tragedies that we caused along the way. I'm proud that Britain ended slavery and gave modernity to half the world. It's also worth noting that western Europe would have never been where it is today if it hadn't been invaded and enslaved by the romans nearly 2000 years ago. It was they that brought modernity to us back then, even though it brought tragedy to those who suffered at the time. It's hard to recognise that all those countries that were colonised and all those descendants of black slaves in the USA, most, now have better lives than they would have had , had those events not took place. Your criticism of Elizabeth II being dull. I can see why you may think that but may be that's what is expected from a constitutional monarchy. Not as dull as a piece of paper in my view.
