The pen thing was one of the only regal things I felt any sympathy for him with. Sure, I sympathised about the loss of his mother. But, he had to sign loads of documents that actually had her signature on them, as the mark that he had now taken the throne. Line of lineage stuff. So, under his mothers signature was going to be his name. Having that part of it being smudged or smeared would be somewhat upsetting... I mean, for example, you wouldnt want ink all over your marriage certificate, would you?
