As a child my mother handed me postcards of the dollhouse when I was sick and I dreamt of shrinking down and living in it. Years later I was able to go to England and saw it, launching my desire to make dollhouses and all things miniature.

I build two dolls houses for my daughter, victoriana style and eduwardian style. I was working on both the same time. Love it and my daughter was involved in the project. It was in 1994 she was 10 years old. Now she is 40 years old. Both of them scales 1:12

Não entendo nada do que ele está falando, mas estou achando as miniaturas da Casa de bonecas da rainha Mary, muito bonitas e mostra como era o estilo de vida da monarquia na década de 50.

it always strikes me how historians try to connect this to the ordinary man. it is beautiful and wonderful, but one must recognize that when this was designed and made, the working class lacked all the things you see in this house. Everyone who contributed to it, gave nothing to the working class, who kept the wealthy rich. They lived in poverty and misery, children lacked care, clothing, clean water, food, education and toys. So it is important to view it for what it is, rich people wanting to please the monarchy. This has nothing to do with social development, because it never touched them

I appreciate what you have to say. I never really thought about that aspect of this. Thank you!

It’s a shame that, having taken so much care over this (which is interesting and has a nice level of detail), the narrator couldn’t have checked the pronunciation of names such as Lutyens, Jekyll and Inigo. But it’s a nice little video.

Well the main question of why they created this in the first place is to remain unanswered. I mean, yes it is a gift to the late Queen Mary, but why do they have to make it?
