Hidetaka Miyazaki should just release a book explaining all of the unexplained lore in the game also at the end it was implied that the nameless king was the last of the old gods left; does that mean that it's been decided that gwynevere is also dead?
@dezopenguin96497 жыл бұрын
Except Miyazaki's already on record as stating (in his interview printed in _Bloodborne's_ FuturePress guide) that part of what's fun for him as a developer is watching us, the fans, go through this exercise of interpretation and that he deliberately leaves space for us to do this kind of thing! Giving definitive answers (to the extent that he even has them!) is exactly opposite that goal.

This is a minor point, but the pygmy lord lookin guy outside the mausoleum bonfire in the ringed city uses the term “belike,” as well as other antiquated English such as “yarely.” AFAIK Ludleth is the only other person to use that term, belike. Not to mention, other words such as “corse” rather than corpse. There’s also the thing that Vaati pointed out, how in the concept art, filianore’s egg appeared like a transposing kiln. There’s some connection there. I would love an etymological look into the names Courland and Ludleth. You’ll recall Lud and Zallen from DS2. All I’ve found so far though is that maybe Lud means Light, and Leth could be another form of Loth, ie hate, resent, or shun. “Light-Hater of Courland.” Could be implying a connection to the dark. But don’t quote me on it.

I actually thought Gundyr was originally going to be the consumed king. The shot, of him in Ocerios's room, you can see he has the Pus of Man coming out of his back like on the tutorial fight. Him being infected would still make him able to be considered a Consumed King. I have no way of knowing about the item descriptions pre-release but if he was the king and they shifted him, mentioning his armor was modeled after a former king could have been an in-joke.
@roriksavant7 жыл бұрын
Writh811 That would actually make sense. Gundyr looks a lot like Old King Doran in Demon's Souls, who can be found in a mausoleum, just like Ocieros.

I think if Gertrude is seen as a parallel for Fillianore in the Lothric Narrative, her secret knowledge would be the betrayal and experimentation. If Dark Souls 3 is "A re-enactment of the first linking of the fire" that makes sense. As to the painting of the Angels, she is blind and mute, so she didn't paint anything, she just told the story and people painted what they believed the story to be. Much like from the Japanese, the truth of the nature of the Angels was lost in the translation, I think. Great video.

The painting of Gwynavere could BE Gwynavere, perhaps the missing Sun Princess is hiding in the painting till everything blows over. In one of the games i believe the painting guardian set says they watch over the "paintings" in Anor Londo.

I think the thing with Gertrude is she has a more closer relationship with the angels being almost a prophet for them and with there connection to londor I think the people belive she's a traitor who allied with a enemy kingdom whose beliefs most like influenced lothric to not link the flame which is a big no no to them

Around minute 22 you were talking about the fact that Lothric fighting the angels make no sense because they are sharing the same task. But I belive that they are not because fire fading and fire usurping are two different thing. Lothric want the fire to completly disappear and let the age of dark starts. Londor pupouse in other hand is more like an " age of gray", without the desparity created by light and dark. Just shared my point of view. Great video an great talk anyway.

I have never thought about her (the queen of lothirc) being the hand maiden. Its out there for sure, but I have also never really though WHY there are silver knights guarding the shrine in untended graves. Perhaps they are guarding her? its super random to me that they are there? There could be something there, plus her being a handmaiden maybe she posed as this to still be part of one of the pillars so she could keep some connection with her children? I dunno I sometimes wish they never made the untended graves. its too much of a cluster fuck to truly understand

I haven't really dabbled in the Lothric royalty lore. However, I've read a theory proposing that Leonhardt could be related to them. His practice of sorcery is described as a result of his royal lineage, and Oceiros happened to be a sorcerer. That's about it, I think, but it's interesting, eh? Also, Lorian is cool.

Excellent podcast! One thing about relying on cut content to tell us anything, though, is that there are "things that got left out because the production schedule wouldn't allow them to be put in," and "things that got left out because the developers decided they didn't want to leave them in." And it's hard to tell the difference between the two without external evidence which is almost never present (the sixth archstone in _Demon's Souls_ would be the rare exception, for example). There's a big difference between "we didn't have the chance to tell that story" and "we decided that we didn't like that story so we changed it or left it out." (That said, JSF's hypothetical Lothric is rather more interesting than the real one...)

The description of Bountiful Sunlight specifically removes any references to Gwynevere's maidens. If Rosaria was supposed to be one of Gwynevere's maidens, you'd have thought that they would have kept it the same - that's certainly what they did with Soothing Sunlight. Add in the fact that you find her in pretty much the same sort of place - (on a bed, in a bedroom at the top of a Cathedral) in a similar pose and that Leonhard takes her soul to Anor Londo and calls himself a Knight of the Goddess - it really doesn't make any sense to assume she's one of Gwynevere's maidens.

Late I know, but wouldn't it make sense that Ocerios being in the Consumed King's Garden seeing as how Faraam (Nameless King) founded Lothric and possibly built The Garden as a personal prayer area?
@BikesTrainandAuto6 жыл бұрын
I think we may have been looking at Rosaria all wrong. Let's take what we know. 1. She is the mother of Rebirth. 2. She is head of a covenant that tries to kill...well...everyone. 3. She was locked in the Cathedral of the Deep. 4. Her followers become maggot like creatures. What if Rosaria's motivation is to stop the linking of the flame, because she believe this will allow the world to be reborn. What if her goal is to stop the linking of the flame, to extinguish the fires, and this is why she was locked away by the original Priests of the Cathedral. Why? Because the Cathedral was originally a Church of the Way of White, dedicated to preserving the bonfires, linking the flame, etc... At some point Pontiff Sulyvahn, who has never known loss as he comes from a painted world that refuses to burn away, arrives. With him he brings a "unfading"Profaned Flame. Maybe Rosaria was already locked away, maybe she was locked away when he arrived, either way the two found themselves in conflict. There was clearly a split in the church at some point with Archdeacon Klimt siding with Rosaria and Archdeacon McDonnell siding with Aldrich...but Lokey's recent podcast indicates that Sulyvahn appears to be in conflict with Aldrich, not helping him. What if Rosaria and Aldrich were allies. We can see that something seems to have burned open her cage and freed, but not harmed her. I think it's reasonable this would have been Aldrich...but why not kill her if they were enemies? What if Aldrich was killed to extend the flame, being fattened like a pig for the roast in the run up before being sacrificed...but then, shockingly...he returned. The destruction we see at the church is the aftermath of this return, him freeing Rosaria from her cage and perhaps learning from her somehow of the existence of Anor Londo...where we later find her soul with Leonard. What if Sulyvahn was in pursuit, not an ally of Aldrich. What if Gwendolyin and Sulyvahn were allies, not enemies, because Sulyvahn brought Yorshka from the Painted World with him, to show he was a friend to the old gods. What if as Anor Londo was invaded Gwendolin hid her away in the tower and tried to stop the invasion by opening the Water Reserve...only to find that did nothing to slow Aldrich. And as we approach, Sulyvahn has sealed off the Boreal Valley and is moving with Giants and his remaining priests to attempt to stop Aldrich. Because Sulyvahn never expected him, or Yhorm, or even the Abyss Watchers to return. He, like Rosaria and the Princes, wanted to stop the flame from consuming this world. Just as he had in the the painted world with the help of Sister Elfriede. Just a thought.

- "far, far away " is just hyperbole. It Japanese his soul is just said something like "They are SO DONE!" - The word that use to refer Gertrude is "Saint(聖女)" not 娘 that could be confused with "Daughter" or "Maiden" - Also Ludleth is definately pygmy. He refer to himself as 小人 which is the same world that translate to "Pygmy"

Is it just me but i always thought the twin prince's shared features with gwyndolyn, i had just assumed the royal blood line of lothric was descended from him in some way hence the magic use, long dark hair and frail body of the younger prince. Tho i do agree the namless king seems to have founded the city. I kinda thought thats where the connection of the two citys lay, both siblings trying to keep the age of fire alive. Tho the nameless kings appreance always seemed strange to me, like had he sacrifice him self at somepoint to to keep the age of fire going? I guess that doesnt really fit with his whole siding with the dragons thing.

@Callarade6 жыл бұрын
So the crying sound stopping once he slams the invisible thing in his hand isn't enough to give reason that there might be other invisible crossbreeds in the game? Everyone has a right to their own interpretation of the game but I think I have enough proof for myself at least =p

30:51 "untended graves relationship to time is kind of a mess" not really. The repair spell says: "light is time" Untended graves seems to have been consumed by the abyss, therefore time doesn't exist there.
@AssailantLF2 жыл бұрын
but why is it physically located in the same place that Firelink Shrine is? Presumably after exiting the castle, we should arrive back in the tutorial area The Cemetery of Ash, but instead we are transported through some sort of unexplained warped time/space to the Untended Graves. It feels like a mess because there's no explanation for why or how it exists simultaneously with the Cemetery of Ash.
@insertedgynamehere___96910 ай бұрын
@@AssailantLF hmm... maybe the Firelink we start the game in is as an ashen firelink shrine. And by Ashen I mean some sort of manifestation or memory of it. Similar to how giving Ash to the Hand maiden somehow gives her new items to sell. Edit: but then there's the Firelink in the kiln. Fuck...
