I agree with everything like the book just felt soo flat!!!!!!! And nothing happened.!!!! There was barley any Jude and Carden it just felt so wrapped up! The Wicked King will forever be my favorite but Queen of Nothing was just bleh Carden wasn’t Carden he was a wet blanket in this book . Ugh Holly Black didn’t explain anything the land healing her and why whatever is going on with Taryn and the ghost Mattock has next to no consequences I am not happy I want the whole book to be rewritten and fixed

I completely understand your points. This book fell...flat. I think there could have been so so so many twists and turns but I believe due to her time crunch she just...idk...quickly gave it a floating/fluttering ending. Dont get me wrong..I love the series and in the end all I wanted was cardan and jude together but I think it needed more. Hell..the sex scene made me cringe. I'm like.. dude...it wasn't angsty enough and what the heck was judes "do what whatever you wish...I need you...I want you" bit?lol I mean...it all could have been played out better. And also...I seriously thought the ring cardan stole from jude was going to be important...like he put a spell or idk..something on it (whether it be for protection or pardoning her or giving her immortality). Idk...anything. but nope...nothing. then the whole bit with the pregnancy was just random. Then maddock basically just forfeiting himself. Ah! Idk. I just expected more considering how great the first two where. Maybe if shes writing pov versions it will help make this book more...e enjoyable.

Victoria Ramey I’m glad I’m not the only one!!!! For this to be the conclusion and it’s the shortest book is wild. I love this series but I have no idea how to even rate it!

THANK YOU for making this video! I couldn't agree more with every single point you made (except the last one where you wondered if maybe it was your fault for being very hyped for this book- no way, this series built up a LOT of tension and mystery and it just didn't deliver in the end). The best part about Wicked King was the betrayal (and the mystery of Cardan's true intentions-like you said) so to have Cardan just say "Oh you're mad about that? It was A PRANK." was just insulting. After I read that part I almost decided to stop reading. I gave this 2 out of 5 stars on goodreads.
@Kerrington964 жыл бұрын
YES VALIDATION!!! I still haven’t rated the book on goodreads yet because I’m still so devastated. For something I feel is the biggest turn of events/plot twist, QoN treated it like it was nothing.

Kerrington Booked Yes agreed- total let down. *SPOILERS BELOW* And can we talk about the “prophecies” that went along with the snake “thing.” (I don’t even know what to call that whole fiasco). “The only way to stop it is death” and “his blood must be spilled” - and then she kills the snake and Cardan is totally fine and making jokes right afterwards.... ARE YOU FOR REAL.

Kelsey Edwards oh yes I have a long list of “Are We Gonna Address This?” Why make his birth seem like such a big deal? And even in The Wicked King it felt like his mom was gonna be more important and not just power hungry. The whole dying/ fake dying/ bringing person back is old and I never once doubted that Carden would be okay.

I definitely was tired of Madoc being the main villain. I would've loved of Locke being the mastermind who eventually got Taryn on his side by manipulating her love for him. And then Taryn, with her relationship with Madoc influenced Madoc's moves. That would've been so much more interesting for me. The ending wrap up definitely fell short. I wish Roach or Ghost would've died. Nobody dying when it felt like everybody was dying in the first book is such an inconsistent feeling.

1. I don’t understand how carden and Jude are in love. They never had any moments where they got to know each other, they never learned anything about each other internally and they had no connection. Yet they loved each other in the end? She literally only had like 4 pure conversations with him in the whole series. 2. I have never in my life read such a bad ending. It was so rushed and was so confusing. The “war” scene was like half a page. 3. I loved Carden in the end but he was so different from the first book that he was totally unrecognisable that he was not carden. Like I get character development but she changed his whole character. 4. Idk why but Jude just really annoyed me. Yes she was a strong independent person but she appreciated nothing. She was so emotion less that I just did not care about her. The people that were kind and helped her she never smiled or thought about them at all. She’s kind of a bitch in my eyes. 5. The world made no sense. It needed way more world building. Like I did not understand the different courts, why they are there and where they are even located. The political system thing also totally lost me. I am kind of disappointed. Don’t get me wrong I love the whole aesthetic of the world and the ideas behind it but the characters and the plot lacked so much.

I totally agree on the Locke aspect. As a slimey character he should have had an entertaining ending. Same with Madoc. As much as he was a conniving bastard I think he needed to go out with a bang as well. For me Queen of Nothing was not a bad finale because previously, I had read the Scythe finale, The Toll & that set the bar for the biggest disappointments. You make good points though :)

rozusperelko it was SO SO SO WEIRD! It has the potential to have a deep and intricate plot but it ended up being a whack, surface level plot with no emotion.

I had the exact same feelings! I wanted Locke to die an awful death, I wanted Carden and Jude to have an even more extreme hate/love thing because of WK but they went all instalovey ugh. Why is Taryn all goody goody just because she's pregnant? And Madoc, the most interesting character throughout, just turned out to be boring and mean.

The worst part of the sex scene was just the night before Jude was wondering where Carden was that he was absent from their bed chambers and the nights when she lay there injured, insinuating he might be sleeping around. Then never asks him about it and just has sex??? Also I excepted so much more with Jude and Madoc relationship. At the end of Wicked King he viewed Jude as his equal, but then at the end of TQON we don't even get a proper fight scene for them. Also I don't see it plausible that her father would request a more lenient sentence and just submit to them being rulers and be exiled. Especially since while Carden was a snake he threatened that even if she would win he'd make new plots and several times he said Carden was a weak boy king ruler. What makes him respect them more now as rulers. All Jude did was chop a snakes head off and Carden came crawling out. Also, the whole pro choice talk about them all being ok with Taryn if she wanted to have an abortion. Like I am ok with people having the choice, but in Taryn's situation she conceived the child during marriage, killed the father, has an entire estate with servants left to her, and her own family is well off, her own sister is a freaking Queen. Like why even bring that up. Adoption would be the better choice to protect the baby. Lastly, I was hoping we could have a redemption arc for Jude from what Carden did to her. I wish he was angrier with her about killing her brother and keeping it a secret and that he actual wanted to exile her just left a loop hole cause he still cares for her deeply and is conflicted. I wish she stayed in the mortal world and schemed behind the scenes while building her own kingdom/court made up of other exiled members of the fairy world. Then when years would pass and Oak was of age, her father would send spies to kidnap Oak preventing Jude from using him as a pawn against him and to have him pass the crown to a new lineage. Jude would then come back and use her new found influence to protect him and Carden would join sides with her and theyd fight together. It would've been awesome too if the twist in the story would've been that she had his child and was secretly raising it in the mortal world while she was exiled there. The 2nd book was all about protecting Oak till he was ready to rule; however the third one was all about her wanting to gain back her power as Queen. Made no sense. So angry with this third book that I am rewriting it in my head. Also why the ending at a pizza shop when this is a fantasy book is beyond me. Apologies for rant, if there are spelling, grammar mistakes and run ons, just know it is cause I am so p.o.'d.
