The filmmakers were short sighted, and had no vision. Part of the mystique of the book WAS the differing agendas, and the reasoning behind all of the motivations of the ancients. Khayman, Lestat, Mael, Marius, Pandora, Maharet, etc....each ones story was integral to the telling of the whole story. That is the reason the books jumps through time....to use those motivations to show the disdain, and Hatred that most of them carried for Akasha.

As if Armand after not seeing Marius for 500 years would be like what?! Lol. See the books are always better than the movies no matter what but this ⬆️?! This is like total destruction of the original story and their characters. All to appeal to a teenage audience that did not care anyway. And yet I was one of those teens and I had read the books and so I hated the movie. By the way Magnus made Lestat not Marius!!!!! Ugh! And that other random guy is supposed to be Mael?! You know not many natural hair colors exist in the first place and to get each and every single character except Maharet wrong is unreal. And David Talbots like a young man. And Marius goes in at the end to what make him a vampire??? Ruination. The only ones that even looked half way ok were Maharet and Jesse. But the plot was destroyed 100%. They totally fucked the story of this movie. Can someone please redo this movie? Get Ann Rice on it this time. If we have to dig up Tom Cruise, lets do that too.

I read the books, and I had no idea who they were. It wasn't til I saw the casting credits...

It’s so sad how badly they completely butchered this great book with this shitty movie. 😞

Too bad they couldn't have casted a Mekare. She should have been there too.

I enjoy this as a guilty pleasure movie, but I also hate it for screwing up the story so badly. Yeah, the books did that to themselves eventually, but there's enough good stuff to have made some really cool sequels to the first movie, without straying too far from the story. Just gotta skip Memnoch, the Devil and a lot of the later stuff. Problem is: A lot of them lack a good bad guy or are kinda weird and abstract

Yeah they shouldn't have cut out this scene. It would had offered a bit of a better context. I also do enjoy a bit of the banter they were having with each other too.

When Khaymen looks away from Maharet actually kind of hints at what happened between them in the books

While yes Marius did in fact turn Pandora into a vampire she is not his child in the sense that Armand and Bianca are because Pandora and Marius knew each other in mortal life so the 2 of them along with Mael are virtually the same age they just went in very different paths as immortals.
