The Queen is the Head of a democracy, and true to democracy in the UK there was a republican anti monarchy demonstration outside London City Hall on the day, 100 people turned up for it, against 1.200,000 million people lining the Thames to support her.

All charities need cheques, and they need fund raising, and they need figureheads to drive them. The Queen gets paid £7.9 million a year, about the same amount of money that an average skilled premiership footballer costs to a football club, and they bring in far more revenue then they cost,UK Tourism benefits greatly from the Royal Palaces and events.

60 year's of loyal service to her country, patron of thousands of charities, served her country during WW2 in the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service as a mechchanic, dedicated her entire life to serving the United Kingdom, still head of the 54 country commonwealth, invested six decades of her life to charities and foundations, seems the Queen is far from useless to me. Also the Royal Family make more money for the UK then they cost, though tourism and trade missions abroad.

funny you say that, I'm pretty sure A newly elected prime minister has to first go to the queens palace for approval from the queen herself. On an unrelated note it's a strange world we live in where people hold so much respect for a Woman only on the basis of her being born into a family. It's so sad people treat her so highly despite her doing nothing.

Yes, she is unelected, but she can't make or amend any rules in the UK, she has no power in a political sense, the Queen is just a ceremonial figure, and that's why she remains impartial, and not supporting either the Labour or Conservative party when they have been in power during her reign,

All of you from the UK being disrespectful of Her Majesty? We spend more money on the President and the people in Congress than YOU could EVER! imagine! It costs more to turn the "Key" on Air Force One than YOU spend the entire year on Her Majesty! AND she dedicates Her time to Her Job! What you spend for someone that brings in so much is laughable. sad, sick and lonely you say? well what ever insult you throw at the end of the day i'm not some nobody whose life has no purpose and meaning.
