About a week ago, the movie "Bohemian Rhapsody" was showed at a small city in Japan. I watched it at there. This small city is Yamaguchi. Once upon a time, there was a small gymnasium at same place. And QUEEN had done their live concert in that small gymnasium with all their might. They came back to Yamaguchi as the biographical movie. At the same place, a few hundreds Japanese audiences (including me) watched "Bohemian Rhapsody" with love. We Japanese people love QUEEN forever. God bless QUEEN.

This song did not get popular in the USA, can't figure out why, ...it's a masterpiece
@robotcitizen1012 жыл бұрын
A masterpiece it is ... I gather Queen didn't get good promo in the USA until several years later. I figure this song, among their others, was likely deemed to be too "fantastic" and playful for the m.o.r. American radio and ears. At the time bland music was popular in the USA. To be popular the guys had to sound pretty mellow and bored. The songs had to be pretty simple. If it came out around 1987-88 though, during the American glam rock period, by a young new band, then it might have been a hit in USA. Though it was probably always too fun and wasn't ever "tuff" or serious enough for American audiences.
@brianforgie7724 Жыл бұрын
American music listeners are not very experimental when it comes too rock music. They like the straight ahead rock sound in general style of Ted Nugent ,Aerosmith Grand Funk. Outside the box they don't venture much. Americans for the longest time were all about American acts. They support the big American bands and stick close too the base of rock. Dont forget country music and all the southern influence(Allman bros, Skynyrd The Byrds) on rock thats what they listened too. I live in Canada and they don't listen too Canadian music. There where great guitar players from Canada ( Lifeson, Frank Marino, Pat Travers for example) that they couldn't make a real dent down there only because they are Canadian. Its a weird effect really.

Especially when it was their first single to ever chart! Their first tv appearance But wasn't important to inc? Uk no 10 in 74 Later in the year Freddie had his second hit with killer Queen at no 2 uk Again tv appearance I feel they're playing down a lot of Freddie achievements and contributions I saw a clip of killer Queen from the film Just Freddie being a diva and 'above the waist' Wtf?

Fear me you lords and lady preachers I descend upon your earth from the skies I command your very souls you unbelievers Bring before me what is mine The seven seas of rhye Can you hear me you peers and privvy counsellors I stand before you naked to the eyes I will destroy any man who dares abuse my trust I swear that you'll be mine The seven seas of rhye Sister I live and lie for you Mister do and I'll die You are mine I possess you I belong to you forever Storm the master marathon I'll fly through By flash and thunder fire I'll survive Then I'll defy the laws of nature and come out alive Then I'll get you Be gone with you, you shod and shady senators Give out the good, leave out the bad evil cries I challenge the mighty titan and his troubadours And with a smile I'll take you to the seven seas of rhye

I remember this song being released in the seventies. I worked with a guy who was a huge fan of Queen(I was 17 at the time) I didn’t get it back then. I sure do now! Would love to know what happened to that guy.

One of my fave Queen songs EVER! Saw them perform this in 1975, and after the gig was lucky to get backstage and meet them all! 70s period of hard rock is the best Queen era.
