This doesn't really sound like much of an actual alternate take (I know it's called that on the album), it's so different than the original. It sounds like the band were still practising and working the song out at this rate, trying to get it perfect. It's super cool to listen to though, love the alternate piano intro.

Seems that it's popular with 70s bands to release all that making-of-material. Of course never for financial reasons. Only for the fans! - it's interesting to listen to, but it's clear why they kept working on this draft version until it was ready to release.
