Roy Thomas Baker is right. One of the things i love about Queen is that they have a sound. No matter who writes the song, the vocal harmonies and Brian’s red special will assure the fact that you’re listening to a Queen song and will make it instantly recognizable. I introduced one of my high school friends to Queen and we were both big fans of Roger's tunes. He sang lead and played guitar and always wrote these remarkably heavy but melodic tunes. And yes we both thought he was practically like having Rod Stewart in your band, that raspy tenor voice that has a bit of snarl to it (check out "Fight from the Inside" off of "News of the World"). And it was nice to hear Roger's guitar/bass playing on a track or two.
