I like when this song morphed into "we are the champions" what a great way to morph two awesome songs. Our school were undefeated in track and field so we had this song as our anthem. Freddie had an amazing voice and could sing just about anything.

So glad you're on a Queen kick! Fun fact: Composer of this brilliant anthem, Brian, put his scientific knowledge to good use here. He layered and echoed the claps and stomps to sound like a much bigger crowd. He used prime number multiples so no harmonics or echoes interfere with the effect. Boom; big, massive sound. Genius.

This video was actually filmed in Roger Taylors backyard. Another video was made in the same place. Its called Spread Your Wings. I think that is the most underrated song there is. Well I like it anway. You can tell it was actually outside. Roger is freezing and notice how Brian didnt use his Red Special guitar? Its his priced possession. He made the neck out of a fire place mantel and painted and stained it. I think him and his dad made it.

It is a funny thing, the studio versions vs the live performances. You realize that the studio versions were what you were listening to on your CASSETTE WALKMAN on the way to the state basketball championship In Oklahoma, 1984 (we lost first round, bit that is okay, we lost to the team that won the entire thing so there is that. And to be one of the top 8 high school girls basketball teams in Oklahoma was a big deal? Anywho...) So it was these versions that zoom us back to those times. I am grateful to have access to the videos of the live performances since I was never fortunate enough to see them live, but I still had this music AT THAT TIME. It is important I think? It is these versions that grew into the versions you still hear in stadiums today. They built songs to play to stadiums of people. You are right, this song will always be relevant. Always. ❤️
