@Fernando Rodrigues - agree 100%. Sometimes I wish people form US (any state) would just take time to go to other countries (or even States), live there for a while, experience the different cultures and so on... And then do comments like that. From anybody from any of EU countries (and probably from some of any other countries too)... yeah, I can only agree with you 100%. One headphone? My god. Just buy 2 of them, one for each other, a proper ones, invest a nbit of money into the audio - anything good from Sennheiser or even a middle/top level Audio-Technica monitoring headphones (personally I'm using middle ground in a lot of cases, Audio-Technica M50x/M70x in cases like that, with a very good audio card in a PC or a good audio equipment). Any monitoring headphones will probably be better at this point. And none of that wireless crap at all.

Not sure if you've seen highlander or know the story. The song is about an immortal who marries a mortal woman, against the advice of his mentor who knows what will happen. She grows old, he does not. He stays with her all her life, and watches her die. Then he buries her. The prize, he and the other immortals are fighting for, is mortality, so that they can finally grow old and die. There can be only one. Just like Freddie. 😥

From the movie”Highlander” , he is immortal but his wife Heather is not. When she is 80 and on her deathbed she asks why he stayed; his answer is because he loves her now as much as the day he married her. Four thousand years later he lights a candle for her birthday just as she requested on her deathbed. Hence, the song asks who wants to live forever which means you will have to love forever. Watch the Tenors version as vampires who choose suicide rather than loving forever; Lindsay Stirling on violin.

Sorry, minor correction for you. Four hundred years, not thousand. Few immortals lives four thousand years. Ramirez was only around two thousand. The TV series had a few characters past 1k, one around 1400, one around 5k (at least until his fellow horsemen showed up).

Whether it succeeds in capturing all the emotions and all the thoughts associated with death and with life or not, this song certainly tries to. In lyrics like, "There's no time for us ..... ", it starts of as a wail and a complaint and a grievance by noting and by pointing out to the listener the fleetingness of time and consequently the non-permanent or the transitory nature of life in time itself , but then also recognizes that the times in our lives we treasure the most are the few precious moments when we are truly in love with, when we are truly in communion with, when we are truly at peace with the world we live in, as an inevitable consequence of which we end up being truly in love with, truly in communion with and truly at peace with ourselves. Even if these times tend to be very brief and even if they tend to be set far apart, yet it is in only in looking forward to and in anticipation of and in hoping to experience those few magical, elevated and captivating moments in our life that we strive and we persevere to live for, much like the only time that makes a year's worth of long hard schooling or a years worth of long hard work and labor bearable and tolerable is always just the month of short vacation at the end of the year, whose happy memories we hope to cherish and we know will serve as the fuel to carry us and to propel and to transport us through the rigor of the next season. But that is not all the message this song tries to covey either. It is very unlike the songs by Queen to just note the irony and the impossibility of a situation without also offering a resolution and a remedy and a cure for it, which in this case we only know all too well, which is that; it is not the span or the duration of our life that has been granted to us, in other words it is not for how long we have lived our life that ever really matters to us, rather it is how well we have lived it for the time that we were appointed and we were privileged enough to live it that always matter's to us; and though we have been frittering away our chances and our opportunities and our energies and throwing away our whole lives in-fact perhaps on our assured knowledge and supreme confidence that god is a god of infinite patience and endless second chances, it does not neglect or shy away from sounding off if not also laboring the point, which co-incidentally is somewhat true to life's irony itself. In lyrics like ,"Touch my tears with your lips,.....", this songs ends by extending an invitation and making an appeal to the listener to take the time and to take the trouble and to make the decision and to make the effort to care and to love all the time, and thus to live a life which is always on a "Permanent Vacation".
