Once again l love what you have done but the 'open drawer' trick - wow! It makes such a difference! A lot of dolls houses /miniature diaromas look beautiful but staged whereas yours somehow give the impression that either someone just left the room or that the room has somehow become abandoned. Wow!! Thank you so much for such a generous Super Thanks ☺️ I'm not familiar with what you mean regarding the Amazon list, but I'd be open to it.
@DawnDavidson7 ай бұрын
@@queencityminisI think what she is suggesting is that you post links to the materials that you use, and create a master list of those things, so people can know what to get if they want to recreate or imitate a project. You could maybe post it in the main information on your channel, so it’s easy to find. If you have a business Amazon account, you can also create affiliate links to products that you use (or similar to what you use) that other folks can buy. And when they do that, you’ll get a tiny amount of their purchase price sent to you, at no extra cost to them. Another way that you could leverage Amazon to support your work would be to create your own wishlist for your minis. Then people could buy you things that you’d like to have off the list. If I were you, I might start with some nice paint that’s not that one blue color. 😂 On a full size furniture restoring channel I watch (Mad City Modern), he will stick name labels (often first name only) on the products that people buy for him, so people can see their gifts being used. Your products are pretty small and the labels might be hard for us to see, but you could probably just say something like “thanks to Susie for getting me this paint” whenever you use it. It’s a nice way to feel a sense of community and connection to a creator. You are great at repurposing or recycling things, so you may not actually need a lot, but sometimes there are things you’d love to have but you don’t feel you can afford. There are people who can afford it (not me! 😂) who would love to support your work this way. You might have a wishlist item of a 3D printer and supplies for it, for instance. Or a new heat gun, or a Cricut, or whatever. Hope all of that helps to give you an idea of what the other poster might have meant, and ways that you can both help others out with information, and support your channel through affiliate links and indirect donations as well. 😊

Love those apothecary cabinets. My chiropractor is Chinese, told me about how as a child his mother took him to an old wise man with row upon row of bottles and potions and drawers, the guy looked at his tongue, put together a concoction for his mother to administer. It's quite fascinating, their medicinal knowledge goes back centuries and is something we shouldn't lose or dismiss as witchcraft or unscientific. Other fascinating pieces of furniture to me anyway, are the desks that architects use with all those shallow drawers for writing and drawing implements. They may have tops that tilt up as well to create an angle. I saw another miniaturist modify dollar store items multiple ways, might have been Real Life Dollhouse Miniatures, but I'm not sure. I think she used medicine capsules, either from meds from the Dollar store that were dumped out, or empty capsules you can buy. She cut off the rounded ends, sliced those in half to make half moon drawer pulls and painted them like metal . But they dissolve in water, right? So you'd need to be careful not to get them too wet. I think it's just ingenious how people use tiny bits for other purposes.
@queencityminis2 жыл бұрын
I think I remember seeing that video about a year ago. That's a good point about them being water soluble. I never thought of that. I thought the clay cup pulls were easy to make and the extra steps could be excluded. Even just sharing one at the end of a Popsicle stick and painting it would look great. I just always have to add one more thing...
@recoveringsoul7552 жыл бұрын
@@queencityminis yeah I didn't think about the Water dissolve thing until I wrote the comment to you. I was thinking they were plastic when I saw the video, but they'd never dissolve if they were plastic. Not sure what I was thinking... d'uh

Love it! I Love taking something this already exists and making it awesome. What kind of printer do you use?
@queencityminis Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have a regular laser printer and a 3d printer (Elegoo Mars 2 Pro). I didn't use either for this project though. This was all scratch made.

The first drawer patter would have been a library card storage cabinet

Ok, I need to know….did this end up somewhere? It’s gorgeous!
@queencityminis7 ай бұрын
It ended up in a storage box 😬 I promise, I will build a book box around this piece someday.

This tutorial is amazing thank you so much! I grabbed a bunch of these a year ago and have been sitting in them since! Question, the blob of yellow silicone what product is that ?
@queencityminis2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! That's Amazing Mold Putty. I got it on Amazon. It's a mold making product. Super easy to work with. I wish it was transparent so I could use it more easily for casting UV resin but it's great.

Awesome! Gonna give it a try ! Keep up the amazing work so glad to have found you

So cool! It's wild to think you created this from that poorly-made $1 dollhouse dresser

Thank you! I need to do another Dollar Tree makeover soon.
@CloverWoodss7 ай бұрын
I’m curious, would it at all have been easier to have just made the whole piece from scratch rather than using the dollar tree base? Or was it a challenge you decided for yourself? I loooooove the look but it looked so hard to take apart!!!

For me, the hardest part can be deciding on a size and shape, so I like starting with something rather than building from scratch. I enjoyed reworking this piece.

I love the idea of using a silicone cup and heat gun to cure small polymer clay pieces. Is your heat gun an embossing gun (craft store) or a paint stripper gun (hardware store)? I live in Texas and will only turn on the oven for about 3 months of the year. 😁🌞
@queencityminis2 жыл бұрын
Haha! I bet! I can't imagine living in Texas. I'm hoping to go to the Dallas Miniature Show so maybe I'll experience that heat firsthand. I use a Milwaukee paint stripper heat gun. My fiance gave it to me and it is a game changer. I use it all the time. I dry paint with it, cure clay, loosen the glue on miniature furniture to take it apart etc.

@@queencityminis That’s where I live. End of June here? Oh yeah, you’ll get the full treatment. Doesn’t go much below the 80s at night, and runs 90-100 during the day. And SO very humid. I have craft heat guns. My guess is they don’t get as hot as a paint stripper. I’ll have to do some Googling. Thanks for the info!
@queencityminis2 жыл бұрын
@@tamara9186 Oh no! I didn't know it's humid in Dallas. I was hoping it would be dry heat like the West Coast. My heat gun has two modes; 570° F & 1,000° F. Hair dryers get about 100°. I don't know about craft guns.

What brand of liquid clay are you using? I really like the cabinet.
@queencityminis2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I use Liquid Sculpey, but only because I got it on clearance at Michael's. Any liquid polymer clay would work. I got silver and gold. The color doesn't matter because I have to paint them anyway.

Can you tell me what kind of white glue and mold putty you are using?
@ghoulgoil50292 жыл бұрын
Oh I forgot to say, I always wondered how these tiny little things were baked. I thought they went into the oven. That process was always a mystery to me how they didn’t burn.
@queencityminis2 жыл бұрын
When I bake in the oven, I tent foil over the top just in case. For small items, I almost always bake them with my heat gun. For the Witch's Cottage, I did bake all those mushrooms and pots etc bc there were so many of them.
