Oh yes Andrew, I very much agree with you on the 'bad blood' from the Hanoverians and Bowes-Lyons, and now we have the Spencers in the mix? God help them. I remember when Diana was introduced as Charles' fiancee, I was only a girl then and admittedly I got caught up in the fanfare of a "fairy tale." But it would seem the Prince & Princess of Wales today have been the living embodiment. William choosing Catherine as his wife is probably the smartest decision he could ever make and just watching them together on engagements you see how they mirror one another and are in such sync. I'm an American and outside a small but noisy contingent in the twitter sphere we don't hear murmurings about William (poss) having affairs, certainly nothing like it was during his parents' marriage but who knows? It would be a big disappointment if it's true. As much as I love & adore Catherine I think my favorite royal is Princess Charlotte. That girl has spirit and seems to be molded in the vein of a Philip & Anne but then throw in the late queen and Diana ntm her mother Catherine and you have all the ingredients for a tremendous powerhouse. Mark my words, that girl is going to be one to watch for the ages.

A comment on having guests from across the pond, such as the woman (sorry, I can’t remember her name) from Ohio. I think it’s a great idea to see just how people in other countries, who have had links in the past with Britain or currently have links, view the Royal Family based on what they read or hear-or what they have experienced themselves. Your guest today was actually an emigree from the UK so she does have some skin (and more) in the game-she actually braved the crowds for the Coronation! And she gives “talks” about the RF to people in Ohio which kind of boggles my mind. I can’t imagine myself, as a Canadian who lived in the UK, who follows the RF quite avidly, giving talks here in rural Arizona. They are more interested in US issues and, truth be told, aren’t even sure who Harry and Meghan are. And don’t care. I look at the tabloids weekly as I stand in the grocery line and H & M are rarely in the headlines although Kate certainly is-and usually in a positive light. Even back in Canada, I am the only one of my circle, which includes New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario and BC who is interested in the RF or the Montecito duo. They all roll their eyes if I say anything so I keep my “hobby” to myself and do my following quite privately. Anyway, if you can find some folk from New York City or, especially, LA (please not Kinsey Schofield though-a private person, whose Royal following is private) to chat with I think you’d get a much better idea of the true extent of Royal interest in the US :)

She had fear of rejection and fear of being abandoned. Lady C is implying she was some kind of a slut. I mean Lady C if you hear her story and her feud with Colin Campbell. She is nothing more than a pretentious poseur how dare she discredit Diana. Let's face it they used her as a breeding cow.

Don't blame H&M false aspersions of the press. Couldn't agree with you more. I read an article years ago that Colin Campbell was the best friend of Barbara Cartland the writer. Cartlands daughter rain married Diana's father. Rain sounded very much like the evil stepmother I had, taking over everything in our family's life including the money. Not a nice woman. It sounds to me like there's resentment between Colin Campbell and Lady Diana because of her friendship with Cartland. I stopped watching her show when she constantly spewed trash about Princess Diana whenever her name popped up. Some people just can't have respect for the Dead!!
@d.annejohnson5631 Жыл бұрын
Of course speaking ill of the dead is unfair. Yet we need honest historical analysis and discussion now more than ever. Alas if people lead very public and especially controversial lives they will inevitably be analyzed and discussed after their death. That is how we all learn from the behavior, and misbehavior of past generations.

She doesn't talk about anything that Di didn't do or was not discussed during Di's life.

Telling the way something is, and because it bursts the bubble and doesn't conform to how strangers perceived the personna presented to the hoards doesn't make lady C wrong.

@@moonbaby104 It was Raine who saved the Spencer hierarchy, they were all but broke, it was Raines money that put the spencers back into the black. Diana didn't like her, saw her as the wicked step mother, pushed her down a flight of stairs, but funnily enough as diana grew from immature to mature, she and Raine became good friends.

I can't ask Andrew my burning question as it concerns Lord Louis Mountbatten. My late ex partner introduced me to other arguments re what happened to him.

Ask! Send your query by email, Andrews email address is readily available on Google. Andrew always reads and replies, how he finds the time? Who knows? What a great communicator.

The IRA blew him up ( with the collusion of the UK secret services). Due to his predilection for boys provided from the local boys home. Is that your question? If so there are many channels that discuss this.

Lady C I really loved Diana Sorry I think she suffered so much The pictures of her with her bones sticking out was appalling I think as a mere mop she came across as the most beautiful person I have ever seen I do not think she was bipolar she was a beautiful young lady She was a teenager Married to a middle aged guy
@honestea1828 Жыл бұрын
She said BPD, not Bipolar. Bulimia is one manifestation of BPD as are other criteria Diana herself described. The girl had issues before, during and after the RF.

She wasn't a teenager, she was 20 when she married. She lived the life of a Sloan Ranger in a flat full of single girls who spent their time out clubbing, and dancing, and palace life was not how she'd expected it to be... sounds similar to another person associated with harry.

Total BS. Try reading something other than womens magazines.

Sorry Diana really loved Charles She was heartbroken about Camilla Camilla is very happy now Do yo think when Camilla dies anyone will care? Do you think the public will mourn for days? No they will not
@philmcraig Жыл бұрын
I’d agree that she was v unhappy just before the wedding and during the honeymoon that C and C were still clearly ‘in touch’ and was also angry about it later. I’d also say that there were periods when she sorta kinda accepted an ‘arrangement’ Life is messy, especially hers!!
@honestea1828 Жыл бұрын
@@philmcraigRead her letters from the honeymoon. The exact opposite of her 1990s hitjob narrative.. C&C were not in touch in the early years of the marriage. Lady C is quite correct that Di switched her sorry and often contradicted herself in the process.

Di loved the idea of love and Royalty. She did not like him enough to get treatment and not stray. And you don't speak for 'everyone' regarding Camilla.

@@philmcraigo It's well documented Charles and camilla didn't get back together until 1986, by then diana was on her THIRD affair, Henry herbert 17th earl of pembroke was first (1983/4) then Barry manakee (1984 till caught out) James hewitt followed manakee.

Diana thought Charles was having an affair with Tiggy ( he wasn't) she accosted her at a New Year's party and publicly embarrassed her. The Queen ordered her to apologise and she had to pay compensation for slandering her. As to Camilla, I like her.

I find Lady Colin Campbell insufferable, she name drops all her contacts and connections, clearly loathed Diana and as such does not provide a balanced point of view. I do not get why she attacks her for extra marital relationships, she was a young woman out of her depth with trying to negotiate her way thru a marriage, with a husband didn’t love her, cared more for a mistress, just heard the Barbara Cartland reference - more name dropping. I actually refuse to listen to her go on and on, and I am sure that won’t concern her. I did not enjoy this episode of your podcast cast balanced factual reporting, as has been given in previous episodes, which I have enjoyed but this one is none thing better than gossip.
@rosemarymurlis-hellings81385 ай бұрын
Why shouldn't she talk about her friends? Her friends and acquaintances give her a great deal of tips and information. Barbara Cartland gave her 50 pages of notes about Diana. Diana was Barbara's step granddaughter. Lady C has actual experience of Diana and worked with her on a book.

I was about to subscribe, you give a nice presentation, however your lack of knowledge about the Bowes-Lyon family has turned me off. The genetic anomaly that produced two or three mentally deficient cousins of QE, Queen Mother, is not traced to a Bowes-Lyon, but to the wife married to a Bowes-Lyon. Thus not in the Bowes-Lyon blood line.

What an interesting comment, l think the children who were deserted in an asylum is a scandal, but don't let it prevent you from subscribing to Scandal Mongers. We don't all agree on every programme but if you fail to subscribe you only prevent yourself from the many, many revelations which you'll enjoy. I too have had moments of disagreement but the overall series is an endless source of sandals of which l've been previously unaware. Pleaae press the button, subscribe please, your alternative views, aired in current and future comments, will l'm sure be welcomed by Andrew and Phil.

This is one I won't be listening to. She is too emotional and toxic. Her hate campaign against Harry and Meghan makes me cringe. Actual facts are not something she subscribes to.
