I had the opportunity to visit the station again during October 2018 and my, how it had changed. The station has been extensively modernised, with a new footbridge (complete with lift), extended canopies and artwork featuring huge black and white historical photos. Here, we check out some of the features of the station and see a couple of 2 x 3 car QR EMU (SMU) formations working services between Shorncliffe and Cleveland. They aren’t EMU’s. They are SMU 220 series’s.

Technically correct, since EMUs in most places refers to electric multiple units, and all the trains here are EMUs. Only Queensland uses EMU as a class name.
