The song is also at least partly about the concept of lucid dreaming, wherein you realize you're in a dream and you can exert some measure of control of what's going on in the dream. I'm someone lucky enough to have been able to accomplish this on occasion. It's a powerful feeling

Due to the message/meaning; this is one of my *most favorite songs!!! IT IS* hard to hear... Most people miss/don't hear this part of the song below, but it just *"COMPLETES IT!!!"* *"I can't do this"* *"Visualize your dream, record it in the present tense"* *"Put it into a permanent form"* *"If you persist in your efforts, you can achieve dream control"* *"How's that then, better?"* *"Dream control, dream control"* *"Help me"* 🙂

I thought your review was great! I agree with your assessment of the concept and composition as well. There are many intellectual layers to this masterpiece. If you listen closely to the ending, the cello strings sound like they're playing an extension of J. Brahms' "lullaby"... Just an amazing piece of music all around.

Written by Chris DeGarmo. He played acoustic guitar 🎸 He quit 2 albums later. Geoffrey Tate was the lead singer before he was fired. Suggested videos 📹: 1 Queensryche performs The Queen of the Reich 2 Bryan Adams sings Everything I Do I Do It for You 3 Pink Floyd performs Comfortably Numb 3 Metallica performs The Unforgiven Orchestration by the late Michael Kamen. If you hear how similar the strings are with Comfortably Numb, Nothing Else Matters, this is because Kamen was the orchestrator. In 1991, one year after the release of this song, Kamen wrote and orchestrated the music for Robin Hood. Kamen, Bryan Adams and Mutt Lange wrote a song 🎵 which was Number 1 in 1991.

I saw you were going to listen to a song that was a favorite of mine since it came out. Love the guitar, soft melodic vocal style with extensive use of strings and horns. The backup vocals are nicely used as well. Haunting. I have frequently been able to control and direct my dreams, without any big effort. Sometimes even waking, and going back to sleep to re-enter and continue a particular dream scenario. Interesting discussion, about the songs lyrics and your experience, as i have not really thought about it much. Directed dreaming could be powerful and potentially dangerous, as imho, in the dream state you may mess with your mind at a deep level, while it processes experiences and builds your understanding of the world.
@SaeedReacts.5 ай бұрын
Amazing song and super interesting concept. Its something i have been exploring for many years. It de gave me a lot of insight and great experience, but sometimes i wonder if tampering with the mind on that level is healthy in the long run. Just like you said. It is possible we dream to process our emotions and daily occurences, maybe we shouldnt interfere with that process.

I was taken back just before the bad part of the dream occurred and something different happened. I've not studied how to do that, I don't know how I did it or if I will be able to change the course of a dream again.

When the lead singer says "or has it(dreams) just begun." is a reference to Dreamtime from the Aborignines believe that our waking conscious life or reality is "the Dream or humans dreaming" and our sleeping life is unconsciously the real reality. So, that's what he means "or has it just begun." This is called "Dreamtime" Dreamtime is a place of multiple dimensions where 7.5 billion people's multiple beingness and identity live in those dimension with different realities than the one they are living in this reality. Very deep. Very weird.

You are into some great concepts so I am pointing you towards one by a band that has some of the greatest pieces of music I know but the public at large don’t really know: The Invisible Man by British band Marillion. It is not about a literally speaking Invisible Man (or is it?) but it digs into the idea of a person not being there anymore but still being able to see how his partner is living his/her life. Here is an amazing live performance that really showcases the entire band but their lead singer Steve Hogarth in particular. If you like this one then move on to their song Neverland which will push you deeper into their vast rabbit hole. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4G9cqigitChj9Usi=iz9pfg-ML3XugM46

So it sounds to me like you spent some time practicing lucid dreaming. However, it seems like no one ever taught you how to place markers in your dream. Markers allow you to realize in the dream that you are dreaming. Which in turn allows you to open a door, if you will, and wake up. Going into a lucid dream or dream walking without a strong connection to your belief system and a definite escape plan is not a smart thing to do. You must always protect yourself, dark forces do exist and the dream world is their playground. You must be strong in the knowledge that you can overcome the subconscious and learn to control the dream with your conscience mind! Be safe!
@SaeedReacts.2 ай бұрын
