What I take from this: "Did that man just release a whole eagle out of his coat?" Cracked me up. And QR definitely was rock but listen to this in the context of the whole album. Makes a difference. They were more an album band than a singles band.

Hi Billy, the name is pronounced Queens Rike They started out as a metal band and they matured musically as they got older, this song is from the album 'Empire' from 1990, this album also contained their biggest hit single 'Silent Lucidity' a song about lucid dreaming, they were huge fans of Pink Floyd and 'Silent Lucidity' was their homage to Pink Floyd

My favorite queensyche songs silent lucidity Bridge Another rainy night Jet city woman Sight of the times And just as an FYI, this is a ballad which is why it’s more mellow. Queensryche was tentatively in the hair metal genre, I would say they didn’t quite fit in there but I personally wouldn’t call them straight up metal. And his outfit was that way because of the decade this song came out 😂

BTW, this "video version" is an abbreviation from the one that is on the album. To help you pronounce the name of the band, it's "Queens rike"

Jeff Tate is one of the best singers of our time, the music is finely crafted, very technical and precise... but it's the lyric that's truly amazing. "...I can't believe I've spent so long Living lies I knew were wrong inside I've just begun to see the light" or "Long ago there was a dream, had to make a choice or two Leaving all I loved behind for what nobody knew" or "Read between the lines, criticize the words they're selling Think for yourself and feel the walls Become sand beneath your feet". All of that wisdom dropped... in a single song. They were Nightwish before there was a Nightwish. In that, I mean Nightwish music is well written, technical and precise, all members are highly skilled, and both are known for thoughtful lyrics sung by the very best singer of their time... Floor Jansen now with Nightwish, and back then Geoff Tate with Queensryche. my fear is what are we going to get after Nightwish calls it a day? I've been lucky in that my whole life there have been great bands to follow, sometimes too many, but the landscape is changing, music wasn't what it once was... but luckily, we can remember the good days, as you did here, with a great song from a great band... echoing to us from the past. thank you for sharing your reaction to one of my all-time favorite tunes!

This group. When they started was a heavy metal group..queensryche, warning, and mind crime....but as the matured their sound changed to a more rock ballad sounds... which worked better for the lead singers vocal skills. Geof Tatt, had one of the best vocal out there... when this group came out.

Queensryche (queens-rike) lol. This is my favorite band. I don't know if it will reach you, but I would like to recommend Promised Land (if you thought this was deep, that song hit me like nothing they've done before). On the same album, Someone Else (5 min version with just the piano). You sir, are the FIRST I've seen react to something that's not their most popular songs. I've seen them live well over a dozen times in multiple cities. They don't miss a single beat. They sound as good live as they do on the album.

I was never a fan when i first heard of this band in the late 80's...after a while when i gave them a chance i learned a new respect for them...their music is pointent, and thought provoking! In your own time if you like them listen to Operation Mind Crime, and Empire from beginning to End and you will get an idea of their music. They actually arranged their albums like Pink Floyd to tell a story. A lost art.

Kid Rock??🤦🤣🤣 Great Queesnsryche video. Appreciate the great feedback. Empire was an experimental album IMO. They just completed Operation mindcrime. So empire was more corporate. Queesnsryche doesn't do like typical everyday rock bands...they don't phone it in, just to put money in their pockets. One of the most underrated rocks bands EVER!!

My older brothers liked the Operation Mindcrime album but I didn’t and still don’t. What hooked me is their following album Empire which is what happened to a lot of people. They didn’t sell out, it’s the same with many bands. My older brothers liked And Justice For All and I liked the Black album, they liked Pyromania and I liked Hysteria. Geoff Tate has one of the best singing voices period and Queensryche is a great band. Please review Wasted Time by Skid Row! Thanks BYSC!!
