My favorite QR song. The Warning is an underrated album. It's one of my top 3 of all time including Metallica Master of Puppets and Pearl Jam Ten.

I can't think of a band that has shown to be so Unbelievably Talented and Consistent both in the Studio and upon the Stage. They were always Decades ahead of the rest. \m/

Tate made you believe when he himself believed. He hasn't shown passion or heart in the music (especially his live performances) for MANY years. At his peak, he was GODlike and untouchable. NO ONE was as good as a prime Geoff Tate. NO ONE. Not Ronnie James Dio, not Bruce Dickinson, to Ian Gillan, not Rob Halford, etc. Geoff Tate had a NATURAL talent that was unmeasurable. Slowly started to decline after 1987, but remained intact for many more years. It's been DEAD for a while now.

BTW, this was the LAST tour they did where Geoff could still go somewhat high. When they came back at the end of 2004, his range was pretty much gone and only got worse every year after that. His absolute peak was from 1981-1987 (before he started smoking).
@de_psich5 жыл бұрын
Danimal300zx he could do something high up until 2001 at least. Check their Live Evolution or any bootleg from that tour. It was last time him doing entire Queen of the Reich live (though, without the intro which was dropped out in 1989)

The lyric in question goes, "Knowledge - was it worth such torment?"
@FreeMTrider11 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure where you get your information or how accurate it is, although I do agree with the years. I've seen QR live beginning with the EP shows in Seattle. Rage was incredible. I actually saw them twice on that tour. I know a fair amount of singers who smoke or have smoked and it doesn't work as quickly as you think. Promised Land took it's toll. Way too long of a tour and a very long show to sing at that level. That would wear on anyone. Smoking creates a rough less sustainable voice.

no, Bruce would have talked for a half hour before the song

I naturally assumed it was about psychedelic shamanism, specifically Goetic Theurgy under the sacramental influence of some hallucinogen or other.

Try using punctuation. Commas and periods are quite useful in language. They are there for a reason.
@marshallstacks45029 жыл бұрын
I wasn't going to comment.But when I went to click the thumbs up button there was" #156" thumbs up! It almost seemed sacrilegious to push it to 157! O well they don't provide an " I love this video "selection anyway! The word like just dose not go deep enough! "wide eyes watch as # 156 is shown" LOL!!
@ankihansen24899 жыл бұрын
NM 156?
@marshallstacks45029 жыл бұрын
Hey Anki Hansen!!! Sure,it's the last song on the album. Wide eyes watch my #156 is shown! I got 1 word in the line wrong. It's not watch "as", it's wide eyes watch "my" #156 is shown! dammit I was close anyway. It's another great song by the ryhche! It's a kind of the end of the world scenario. Great stuff!! Give it a listen. If I had pushed the like button it could've been the end of us all!!! Ahahah! Cheerio!

@pygmyprawn because at that time "cyber net" or "internet" wasn't really a household word. How many people had a home computer back then?
@boondoxatron916711 жыл бұрын
So now, after all these years, my suspicions are confirmed. "Silly-CYBIN," Geoff subliminally, yet not so subliminally, says as he reveals the nature of his "madness." But this knowledge - is it worth such torment?

This is for "boontrox atron"....sounds to me he's saying - "strangers" or "strangeness" @ 6:17 (on my player. I guess it's 6:15 on yours) Hope this helps! Maybe someone else knows....?
@pygmyprawn13 жыл бұрын
'Well this song was inspired by something rather silly - cybernet...' Any idea what he is referring to?
@Danimal300zx11 жыл бұрын
And 1991 was far from Geoff's peak. His 1984-1987 performances of this song were out of this world. His range began to decline post 1987 (when he started chain smoking).
@boondoxatron916711 жыл бұрын
Anybody know what he's saying at 6:15?
@codybonnet11 жыл бұрын
Good version, except for him missing that high note at exactly 4:28-- that killer note that introduces the solo, otherwise awesome!
@FreeMTrider12 жыл бұрын
blah, blah, blah. Saw him in Seattle and he has zero stage presence. Todd hasn't written shit. His solo stuff isn't anywhere near this or any of the classic stuff Tate has written. All singers have egos. You obviously haven't seen Mindcrime live such as on this Livecrime tour. Tate made you believe. I can't see that happening with the Todd guy.

Seen Mindcrime live a couple of times. Not only the LIVECRIME shit but the original tour. Seen both shows with Todd at the Hardrock and they got nowhere to go but up as he adjusts to his new role. Talking to Scott and Whip, they are very excited to be closing the book on the Tate era and they look forward to continuing the process with new material. You obviously dont know what's going on in the Ryche camp. Todd has been working with the others on new stuff. They hope to have something new soon.
