I'm gay and catholic. I have understood that my sexuality is not my identity. My temptations are not who I am. Everybody has different temptations and all of us are called to deny our fleshly desires and our love for the world. The flesh and the spirit will always oppose each other. As spiritual and fleshly beings our internal desire is to follow the Spirit but the flesh dominates us because of our slavery to sin. That's why Jesus died on the flesh, so once we receive Him as our Lord, we die with Him in order to receive the freedom and strength to obey the Spirit. (Romans 8:12-13, Galatians 2:19) (John 8:34, Romans 6:7) Our identity is in Christ after we repent, are born again and put our faith in Him. There is nothing wrong about denying oneself and the desires of the flesh. Everyone has its own cross to carry. Lets stop being victims, the truth set me free and I hope it will set you free as well. You are loved not because of your temptations but because you are God's creation and He is the Most High God and the only one that can answer you if you seek Him in truth. I recommend you read Galatians or the Gospel of John. God loves us but He didn't came for us to remain the same- but to achieve the freedom to become saints.

“Homosexual” wasn’t a word in the Bible in its Greek/Hebrew origins until it was added in 1946. So, it’s not a sin. BUT the Church is still against it and I don’t want to get excommunicated for marrying outside the Church to a female so I won’t follow through with it because my Church is more important than who I date and marry. It really sucks because to me it isn’t a fleshy desire at all. It’s just HUMANS who are against it. Not even GOD is against me but I have to deny it for the sake of OTHER PEOPLE IN CHARGE.

Historically, there was never a time in the Church when it wasn't considered a sin. All Christians, whether, Protestant, Catholic, or Orthodox, have always held to the biblical teaching that marriage is between a man and a woman.

“Putting his Faith, ahead of his own desires.” I think that’s what a lot of people miss. The Catholic Church is welcoming but there is a price that we have to pay... that is we must repent and die to our sins. We proclaim that Jesus is Lord - NOT our desires. Love the sinner but not the sin.

@@dan69052 Thanks Ed. I will check out that book. I agree with much of what you say. It would be rather perverse of God to have brought forth the mind only for us to be frightened to use it! I love science. I also love spirituality. Having had a few spiritual awakenings ( too much to go into here) I don't believe it has to be a zero sum game. Certainly religion is stuck, infantile and needs to grow the F up. There are a few signs of hope, but the forces of ignorance are still strong. Thanks ❤️

Kids don’t really have a perfect understanding of sexuality. Yes kids will see that with their parents but won’t understand the full picture until later in life. Being heterosexual is more common and natural because we were design this way, to procreate. But is not common to be homosexual and yet is very much natural to be gay. Homosexuality is seen also in animals but what separates us from them is that we are sentient and thanks to religion we can learn values and acknowledge sin. Being homosexual is not wrong but being being promiscuous is and same applies to heterosexual people. I’m happy being catholic and gay. But just to clarify being gay is not my entire persona, I’m a friend, I’m a son, I’m a brother, I’m a hard worker and lastly I’m gay. My sexuality don’t defy me.

@@legoshirocha I mean this is how animals are designed to be, one male and one female, they make their young. Yes they can have homosexual feelings on one another. Humans can also do that, but thanks to religion (mostly religious people) they don't want to be seen as animals but we are according to science. I agree that your sexual orientation shouldn't be your persona, but rather than just your preference (like being straight) and it should be private. I believe that people should be more identified to the things they like to do, such as being artists or music producers, or like your race or cultural background.
