When I was 7, my parents brought a shelter cat home. She was about a year old, a long haired calico with the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen. The people who had had her before had terrorized her to the point where she didn't know how to play. Even though she had so much trauma to deal with, it only took her a few days to see that I needed a Mommy. She spent the next 20 years telling me that I was a good girl who deserved to be loved. She passed almost 30 yrs ago and I still miss her.

@@mementomori4817 I see they didn't answer, but I thought I'd give you my understanding. With a lot of cats, especially kittens, they can be active and enjoy attention. You may or may not have seen cat toys. There's one that comes in a lot of different versions, but is essentially a stick with a string attached at one end that has like a feather or yarn or something for the cat to grab onto. The human plays with the cat by trying to tease the cat into catching the hanging parts, usually pulling it out of the cats reach before they can get it. Or if the cat has been given a cat tree (think like a jungle gym or tree house for a cat, can be small or large, I have a 6 ft tall cat tree for my cats) the cat the origional commentor is talking about, might not have any idea what to do with it. I think they're saying the cat didn't understand how to have fun because the previous owners probably never played with the cat and potentially could have been very neglected. Think about if you saw a small child surrounded by toys or other children, and they just sat in a corner not touching, not interacting in any way, with anything. They just sat there doing nothing but perhaps looking at the toys confused because they had never played with toys before and didn't know what to do with them, or the other children maybe a little scared because they didn't know how to play with them.

I volunteer at our local animal shelter and man do the animals, mostly dogs, make my life worth everything! All they want is to be loved and give their unconditional love in return. It is truly magical to see these babies transform from being shy, scared, and sad, to their playful, friendly, loving true selves. Can't get enough. Anyway, thank you for this video!!
