This film is genius. I was rapt from opening scene through closing scene. This is second time I saw this film.

An incredibly well-crafted drama enacted against the backdrop of Eastern Europe's mad descent into fascism, which has sadly included an increase in homophobic and transphobic sentiment and violence. The actors are stunning in their roles, but Aleksandra Pisula in particular is heartbreakingly vulnerable as the police officer in love with a free-spirited activist. My only wish is that Anna Gorajska's rendition of that beautiful torch song in the nightclub would be available online. I've searched it and her name to no avail.
