Yeehaw! Welcome to Episode 7 of Queer Peer Reviews! Today we'll reviewing the controversial 2005 film; Brokeback Mountain!
In 1963, rodeo cowboy Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) and ranch hand Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) are hired by rancher Joe Aguirre as sheep herdersg. One night on Brokeback Mountain, Jack makes a drunken pass at Ennis that is eventually reciprocated. Though Ennis marries his longtime sweetheart, Alma (Michelle Williams), and Jack marries a fellow rodeo rider (Anne Hathaway), the two men keep up their tortured and sporadic affair over the course of 20 years.

It's interesting to hear thoughts about this movie, which is one of my favorites of all time, from two people who are actually part of the LGBTQ community. I remember watching this film in high school and loving it but all of my guy classmates made fun of it for simply just for being the gay cowboy movie. As a straight ally, I want to thank you for your insightful input on Ang Lee's excellent work.

I watched this movie for the first time exactly one year ago and totally destroyed me but gave me the last push I needed to come out as gay to my family, the impact this movie had on me was so powerful

To be fair, guy on the left doesn’t either. The wedding invite from a child he has a rocky relationship with to the reminder his man is gone and could have never been married to him went over his head. Smh

4 min in im wondering if these two have seen the movie or why this corny plot summary was needed but you’re way off. And the 15 second “scene” was dark and not explicit but that was somehow the focal point. Smh
