The valve on the line from the moving bed really wants to be before the pump if you ever have to change the pump which is pretty likely you won't be able to stop the water apart from that looks 👍
@koicentralofficial Жыл бұрын
Thanks bud, I've got 4" valves to go on before the drum, so my theory was that I would only have to deal with water in the drum and bio which I can pump out before shutting the 2" valve.
@jdofb Жыл бұрын
@@koicentralofficial yeah not the end of the world you'll just have to drain your bio totally change the pump then refill where as if the 2inch valve sat Infront of the pump you can shut it off leave the bio full of water and get the pump off and as you have valves before the returns in the walls you can turn them off and you won't get any back syphoning from the pond looking good tho 👍
@BlackCountryKoi Жыл бұрын
Looking cracking no Matt lad . Just an observation , are you putting a valve before the pump ? Just saves you emptying the whole bio tank if you ever need to change the pump. 😉👍👍👍👍👍👌
@koicentralofficial Жыл бұрын
Thanks Dave, I wasn't going to but you have just made me realise something 🤣 I got asked the same question before, but thought nah if I need to remove the pump I'll just pump the water out of the bio. What was I thinking? I obviously wasn't. Broken pump = no pumpy. So yeah that valve is going before the pump now 👍👍 P.s did you receive the mug for Copey?

Looks Good. I have a qk 25 and very pleased with it. That jubilee clip in the middle of the drum, shouldn’t they be either end of the filter screen? That was how mine was shipped.
@koicentralofficial Жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul. Yeah I've just had a look and thought I might be missing a clip but just looked at another youtubers clip and his has one either end of the screen like yours. I think whoever set mine up had a night on the shandy the night before! I didn't even notice mate and I've spent hours just looking at it! So thank you very much for noticing mate, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it! It's f**k ups like this that I rely on my viewers to pick up! Hi mate where did you get your tank for moving bed please .great build well done .
@koicentralofficial5 ай бұрын
Thanks mate. I think I got it from a place called the workplace depot. They do a version without wheels now. Other than there, if you Google bin on wheels there's a few places that do them 👍
@dudedeano1 Жыл бұрын
Hi matt great video as I was thinking of getting this exact one. The only thing I've noticed is the 120 micron mesh where most other drum filters are 60-70. Do you have much knowledge if going from 60-120 is much of a noticeable difference?
@koicentralofficial Жыл бұрын
Hi Dean. To be honest mate there's not a huge difference between 60 and 120 micron. Obviously people will see 60 and say its twice as good but for reference a human hair is 100 micron. So the difference (60 micron) is half the width of a human hair. Fair question though mate but now I have the drum and having seen the screen I have no doubt that it will do a cracking job. In my opinion the best drum for the money build wise. Hopefully when I finally get it up and running it will serve me well. Hope this helps 👍

Shame electricity is so expensive. Really does mount up with ponds running 24/7. I've had to turn all of my pumps down at the moment.
@koicentralofficial Жыл бұрын
You're not wrong mate, I started rebuilding just as prices started going up 😭 I'm going to try and keep it down a bit by having uv and air on at intervals and see how I go 👍
@Tom_Prendiville Жыл бұрын
Hello matey that black container on wheels.....where did you get it from...how much was it please. In regards to the pump shutoff....we have a different drum but it's essentially the same scenario, aslong as you don't surpass the max wattage usage you could make a small double socket extension to plug both your pumps into it and then plug the single socket into the control box and it will shut off both 👍🏼 I hope you get what i mean.
@Tom_Prendiville Жыл бұрын
I've just got to the part where you mentioned my "where from" question 😂

@@koicentralofficial just make sure you don't exceed the maximum power which I doubt you will as you are using modern variable control pumps..I'd open the control box up and look at the ratings on the internal buzz bar trips

Slot a piece of 4 inch pipe half way through and put a rubber 4 inch stopper on the end will be far more cost effective than buying a 4 inch cage
@skeggy Жыл бұрын
But I'd be happy to supply you a 4 inch cage lol
@koicentralofficial Жыл бұрын
Lols 😅 yeah the 4 inch cages I've seen have too big a holes, bigger than k1, yours might be different though Daz. I thought that by having pipe going across the bed it may effect the air flow. But come to think about it I'm sure a well known make of filtration system supply their beds with the inlet going right through the box? Is it Oase?
@skeggy Жыл бұрын
@Koi Central yes they certainly do theirs is just a grid mesh one too .. if you keep the bottom half of the pipe solid the air rolls up and round it and doesn't get sucked into the pipe so much so doesn't suck ait into the pump
@koicentralofficial Жыл бұрын
Sweet Daz, think I might extend it a bit then and do as you have suggested. Top man, I really appreciate your input mate 👍 I'm doing everything based on what I have seen on other channels and on Face ache, and I know everyone will do things differently. But I'm open to any suggestions that will help improve my setup, so thanks Daz for taking an interest and helping me along the way 👍

With all the added piping etc isn’t it false economy not to have an integral drum/moving bed or am I missing something. Don’t say, my mind🤪
@koicentralofficial Жыл бұрын
Do you mean is it best to have an integrated moving bed and drum? I did it this way as it was cheaper and also the moving bed is a lot bigger that the integrated one on a drum of the same size 👍
