Although the Stridon looks like a great Bible and I plan to purchase one in the ESV, the Quentel is my all time favorite. I love the 2 column format and the beautiful 11 point Milo font with the cross references at the bottom. Thank you Tim for the review and comparison.

I love the Stridon, there's very little about it that I would change. It's a direct hit in beauty and functionality for me. As I write this in April of 2024, I am waiting for my Desert Camel Stridon SCR ESV expected toward the end of the month. I'm stoked 🤗

I like the larger font for my eyes and I am not crazy about verse by verse unless I am using this as a study Bible, jumping from verse to footnotes, . My next Bible I am almost certain will be Quentel NASB blue goatskin Bible. If the Stridon was just single column I would prefer that. Both are very nice Bibles.

The Quentel for sure. Looking at the ESV in the near future. That thin newspaper style columns are so much easier for me to read and keep my place. The only thing I would really have liked is words of Christ in red however since they use red for other features I get it.

I thought the verse by verse would turn me off but I’ve grown to love the Stridon in a short time. The wide margins make it suitable for notes (and line breaks have the effect of providing even more white space on the page!), but it is still a relatively compact package, and I’ve found it easier on my eyes to follow than blocks of paragraphs. I have black/red which is my favorite Schuyler format and love it.

How difficult do you think it will be to switch to this single column if all you have had is the double? have you ever compared the stridon to the Cambridge Topaz? what are your thoughts of the differences between them?

I'm still relatively new to all of this, so I don't have any preferences (double/single-column, paragraph vs VBV, wide-margin or not, etc). TBH, I would be very happy with EITHER a Quentel or a Stridon in a translation I like. Having said THAT, at this moment I am most interested in the Stridon, as it has features I don't have on most of my Bibles in my current collection. So far I only have one single-column (and it's a study Bible), only one VBV (and I've yet to go into it; next year for certain), and NO wide-margin. Subject to change.

I would love to see a Quentel reset to a nine-point font, but maintaining the current column width (right now, they look a little short to me). The Stridon footer layout is really nice too. More good things to come, I’m sure!

I love my Quentels, but I would prefer the Stridon IF it had 11-pt font, maybe with narrower margins. (I can't bring myself to mark my Schuylers and Allans; so I don't need big margins. I use less expensive ones for that.). Also, the Stridon seems to have a long line length. Do you know how many words per line? Too long makes it a little less easy to read. I'd really like a vbv single column, though! I need large print. Also, the ghosting seems worse on the Stridon but that may be just the individual Bible. Schuylers can vary Bible to Bible. I like the slimmed down Quentel's size better than the original, so I don't know about a chunkier Stridon. Tough decision!

I like the paragraph by paragraph two column Quentel. The layout of the references and footnotes are my preferred layout. The only change I would make is to change the color of chapter numbers from red (🔴)to blue(🔵); and add red lettering for the words of Christ. The imperial blue goat skin with blue under gold gilt edging is stunning.🤩

We need this ESV New Stridon on a 36gsm paper. That 29gsm is way too thin for writing on the wide margin

I imagine 32 might be possible, but most of the publishers seems to be opting for less than 36 at the moment.

I really like the looks of the Stridon so much better than the Quentel. I have a Quentel and like it, but the Stridon has the perfect format for me. I just wish they had it in the NKJV. I might have even gone for the NASB, but not in the 2020 version. I guess I'll be waiting!

I so agree on both comments about the translations. Right now they still have Quentels and PSQs in the NASB95, but I"m not sure they'll ever do another printing of the '95. I hope they do. They won't for the Stridon, though.

I love the Stridon. I like the layout of the Stridon a smidge better than the Quentel because it is black letter and verse by verse yet the single column makes it feel like a readers.

I absolutely love single column and the margin size. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to see it in verse by verse instead of paragraph format. Gonna stick with the Humble Lamb bibles for the gorgeous Milo font and the Shepherd’s amazing paragraph style single column format. Hopefully we’ll see an ESV single column paragraph from Humble Lamb someday

Yeah. I preach/teach weekly from a Heirloom Legacy, and the format almost never gives me any issues. The advantages are wonderful!

2 super Bibles. Prefer the Quentel, less chunky, love the full yap, 11 point typeface and 11 font. For a reference edition, for me, the dual or single column does not really matter.

Stridon is my choice. 11 pt font on the Quentel is too large. Do you know if the NLT Quentel will be in the standard 11 pt font? I wish they would move to 10 or 10.5.

I prefer the Quentel. However, I like the foot note format of the Stridon and it is a better foot note than the Quentel. Mid size is also my preference. Not too big, not too small, but just right.

can anyone compare the Schuyler Stridon and Quentel against the Cambridge Topaz for me please. I am seeking my very 1st premium bible and i am on limited income so i cannot redo this purchase and it will be my primary long term bible ..... maybe for next decade. I have used the double column ESV bonded leather bible that was about $60 primarily for past 2 decades and it is literally falling apart. Cover is torn from spine. I loved that bible but am going to switch to the KJV which i have never enjoyed reading up to this point so I may just get the NKJV because these truly are more accurate translations. I was shocked and heartbroken to discover my ESV was not a straight translation and had 16 verses actually removed from the bible - some of those not even in footnote form. How difficult is it to go to single column from double? What do you all think? Which one would you choose from these? or which one is your fav and why?? thanks Fam.

It's a minor issue but I dont know where the idea came from that more text can fit on a two-column page making the bible thinner! This is incorrect. When considering the "usable" page width (let's say 80 characters wide), the two column format automatically makes the center 2 or 3 characters unusable on every line whereas those spaces are usable in the single column format. The issue with the Stridon is its verse-by-verse format. Everything else being equal, a single-column paragraph bible will always be the thinnest format; it simply makes use the most use of each page. I hope consumers aren't requesting/buying two-column bibles based on this misconception because I want more single-column, paragraph options.

This is correct in theory, but it depends on how many words per line are being used. You'll see on the Stridon that the single column text block takes up a smaller proportion of the available page space than the double columns of the Quentel (easily seen in margin width). This actually helps with readability: longer single lines bog down the reader; more line breaks help carry them along.

Don’t like single column, don’t own one. Best page format is Cambridge Topaz double column with outer “WM” without being an actual WM Bible!. But I don’t have it as I am already using the Turquoise KJV. Have Quentel WM but it is huge and bigger than a brick 😛. But I am now considering Stridon NASB because of the outer “WM” 😇. I’d like to start scribbling again on the margins but my current Turquoise KJV doesn’t allow that. I like the Nelson Premier Preacher Bible too because of thicker paper, but Nelson Bibles are Made in Korea ☹️☹️. I think there is now a full yapp brick red Stridon NASB.

Attention Schuyler buyers. I bought a new Stridon NASB and was surprised to discover that tens of pages had unaligned, garbled and unreadable references at the bottom of the pages. I contacted Evangelical and this is the reply I got from them: We're sorry to hear that your new Stridon did not meet your expectations! It's not entirely unusual for red print to be misaligned from the black print even in a premium Bible, as these parts of the pages are printed at different times. Publishers do not consider this issue to be a printing defect unless the text overlaps and becomes unreadable. If you have pages that look like this, please send us some photos for review. We apologize for any inconvenience. Beware and check before you buy the Stridon.

Recently I have read so many comments about Schuyler's customer service going downhill. This is distressing. When you pay a premium price it is not unreasonable to expect a product that has no defects. That is definitely a defect, not a slight variation. Someone posted in a review that some of the signatures were not aligned and it was noticeable in their Bible. Also their colors are hit or miss, but I suppose that's not really a defect unless you hate the unexpected color. This is disappointing. I hope you got a refund for your Bible. (I love Schuyler, btw, and have many of their Bibles.)
