Grindhouse was a great concept it may not have had great Box Office but over the years People have come to appreciate it.

My friends and I went to a late showing on Easter weekend back in 2007. We had a total blast! One of the most fun theater experiences ever…shame people just didn’t get the concept.
@stromer24 Жыл бұрын
This movie was the most fun I ever had in a theater( well besides a midnight showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show:-P). I saw it opening weekend with a group of friends, and I became sorta obsessed with the whole idea. It sucks that it didn’t do good at the box office and they didn’t make anymore like they had planned.😫

47:27 I remember stumbling across this interview many years ago. Right here, Tarantino's off-the-cuff advice to the question about how he overcame the struggles of making in it in the film industry, is something that has embedded itself deep inside my soul. This advice can be applied to any industry or niche one finds themselves in. You are the average of the (five) people you surround yourself with. It's easy to pat yourself on the back for doing amazing things, but it's in comparison to those who aren't doing a whole hell of a lot with their lives. He uses the 100m dash analogy. If you perform the 100m dash with people who are slower than you, you can guarantee coming in first place and that’s great. But if you run with those who are much faster than you, you may come in last, but your time will be better. The difference is, you pushed yourself just a little bit more than you normally would. Tarantino’s philosophy is to be weakest link in the chain, and to surround yourself with like-minded individuals who share similar goals and aspirations. Ideally, it's those who you admire and look up to. This can lead elevating yourself to a higher standard, one that compels you to challenge yourself and constantly improve by virtue of just trying to keep up with those who are ahead of you. Don't be content with being a fish in a puddle. If you want to succeed, seek out new environments and situations that will push you to your limits and beyond. Also, Grindhouse was an amazing experience and Death Proof still remains one of my most beloved Tarantino films. How could anyone forget that epic car chase! One of the greatest moments in cinema history.

at 47:40 from their, he makes a good point. Its funny how in a matter of hours if not weeks you could make a connection with artist here in Hollywood, they are extremely nice, honest and willing to work with you being that you carry the same or equal inspiration as they do. Worth the travel in my opinion.

You know.................... thinking about it now, should it ever be decided to make an official grindhouse sequel (or maybe a spin off of sorts similar to what jigsaw and spiral did for the saw franchise) i think the next "double feature" should be a hammer films style horror/thriller and the other film should be an oz-ploitation film with an all star Australian cast (take your pick) and if no one is available for faux trailers then why not just show original trailers from the grindhouse days...............at least in my opinion

So refreshing to see and hear from the lovely Weinstein brothers. Those men are the gentlemen of Hollywood, may they never disappear. Same goes for Kevin spacey, that man is a true saint. I would love to invite Roman Polanski to present the best picture at next year's Oscars in person, that man is truly the meaning of a good guy. These people are to be cherished and adored till kingdom come.

Big fan of both these film makers. I have been listening to their 'advice' and other interviews and the way they go about their business is so different from each other but the results is still the same level of badass. I would love to spend a week at Tarantino's house and learn all about films, then a week with Robert and learn all the technical stuff. Planet Terror is such an awesome movie

I LOVE Death Proof. Such a great movie. Of all his films I see it as being the most interesting yet simple. However, Planet Terror was SO special to me. I loved how cheese some characters are while others are so creative. Rose McGowan was just perfect. Sexy, badass, and artistically planned. I just love that movie.

These two guys are like yin and yang: Digital vs. Film, Action vs. Dialog, California vs. Texas (okay maybe that last one was lame), Either way these two could easily be sworn enemies in the movie making world and they are such great friends and they pool their talents to make great movies together. Maybe there is hope for humanity...in the midst of the "Grindhouse"

Originally I didn't. Upon multiple, multiple, MULTIPLE viewings, it eventually switched over to where I like both but Death Proof just goes to another level. I lost count how many times I saw this in the theater (three at full price and uncountable--every day for a two week stretch @ the New Beverly Cinema after work at a discount...it popped up there after the initial run was over) and then I saw it at home repeatedly. The only change I'd make to GH is reversing DP to be first, PT 2nd.

Listening to this, I can't help thinking that trailers do today what posters did back in the day of the double feature. Yet they're the "hook" in a way posters can never be. But like the grindhouse posters, trailers are "exploitative" in the sense that they are about filling seats and less about representing accurately the quality of entertainment the movies really have to offer. I can't tell you how many time I've been suckered by a clever trailer. But the public is getting wiser to these exploitative tactics, and soon the salesmen will have to come up with a newer more radical way to hook us in.
@Justinkasianmusic11 жыл бұрын
@wanabee100 These two men are not celebrated because their films are full of violence. They are celebrated because of their brilliant film making and directing by taking and bending normal genres to break rules of the "typical" movie. They show Hollywood that yu do not have to conform to the regular fairytale stories to make money. They create their own unique world full of dark comedy and intensity but still are successful despite their lack of conformity. That is why they are celebrated.
