Star 80 is about PAUL SNYDER. Eric Roberts’ portrayal is so … larger than life, that Mariel Hemingway simply recedes further and further into the background. The exact reverse of what what actually happened.

She was fantastic in it, I just watched it a few months ago. I love how the whole video is them talking about how it's not about Dorothy Stratton, it's practically a work of fiction, the guy playing Bogdonavich is barely a character, blah blah blah.....and then suddenly Mariel Hemmingway is supposed to impersonate a woman that hardly anybody knew. Back in '83, I was all about Eric Roberts' performance; watching it now, I was way more blown away by hers. Way more was asked of her as an actress, but that just gets taken for granted in roles like that. It's like the Fredo Syndrome.

I don't know about "horribly" miscast but I never thought she was a big deal either. Nepobaby.
